Happy Provider Appreciation Day to the incredible humans who make Homegrown what it is. 🤍
Most people don’t even know this day exists. And many still misunderstand what early childhood educators actually do.
We are not “just babysitters.” And honestly, our team is more than “just teachers,” too.
Over the last year, we’ve been quiet online — not because there’s nothing to post about, but because we’ve been deeply busy doing the work itself. The real work. The meaningful work. The exhausting, beautiful, all-consuming work of caring for children while teaching them the beauty of our natural world.
On any given day, our team becomes:
🌱 teachers
🎨 artists
🐐 animal wranglers
🥕 gardeners
🍲 chefs
🎭 storytellers and actors
🩹 nurses
💛 social-emotional guides
🏃 PE coaches
🔨 Maintenance workers
💇 hairstylists
🪨 holders of special rocks and tiny treasures
🎤 Performers
📚 curriculum planners
📝 late-night email reviewers
🛟 protectors, comforters, problem-solvers and safe places
…and somehow, they still show up the next morning with energy, patience and love.
Our teachers attend trainings and conferences in their spare time. They research child development. They adapt activities on the fly. They clean, organize, redirect, de-escalate, encourage, observe, document, communicate and nurture — all while creating a space where children feel safe enough to grow into themselves.
What makes Homegrown special has never been the building, the gardens or even the animals.
It’s the people.
The humans who pour themselves into this work year-round because they believe childhood matters.
To our team: thank you for carrying so much with such care. We see you, we value you and this school would not exist without you. 🤍
