Mayra A Hernandez

Today is highlighting one of our Community Partners in Travis County—Mayra Alexandra Hernandez, LCSW-S, SEP! Mayra is the Director of Manor ISD - The Whole Child Community Partnerships & Engagement where she supervises the department's Social Workers, the McKinney-Vento team, and the Parent and Family Engagement team.

A dedicated social worker and advocate, Mayra leads efforts to connect families with mental health support, resources, and community care. Mayra shared with PHT: "I’m inspired every day by the reality that so many people are silently fighting invisible battles. Our minds and bodies—though physically connected—can become disconnected through the anxieties of the past and future. Through partnerships like the one we have with Phoenix House, we offer our students and families a chance to reconnect in the present moment, grounded in real-time support, resources, and hope. Knowledge is power—it’s also a tool for healing, liberation, and building stronger, more connected communities." Outside of work, Mayra loves plants, and she is a singer and performer of mariachi music.

We invite the Manor ISD community to join us as we come together as one at a Candlelight Vigil to honor the life of Darrin Ray Loving. The vigil will take place this Friday, November 1, 2024 from 6:30-7PM at the Manor Athletics Complex. Community is invited to dress in western attire.

Manor ISD has partnered with Daybreak Health , a mental health services provider for youth, to help parents learn more about su***de prevention through a virtual class hosted by a licensed clinician. Register here to attend in English on Oct 16 PM PT or here to attend in Spanish on October 17 at 5PM PT.

Call or text 988 for free, 24/7 confidential support if you believe your child is experiencing thoughts of su***de and don’t hesitate to get help. Manor ISD se ha asociado con Daybreak Health, un proveedor de servicios de salud mental para jóvenes, para ayudar a los padres a aprender más sobre la prevención del suicidio a través de una clase virtual impartida por un médico autorizado. Regístrese aquí para asistir en inglés el 16 de octubre a las 17:00 (hora del Pacífico) o aquí para asistir en español el 17 de octubre a las 17:00 (hora del Pacífico).
