During this National Newspaper Week, our celebrates Bethany’s own newspaper, The Scroll. This October marks The Scroll’s 100th year of serving the college and community as the source of on-campus news, opinions, comics, and much more. The very first article (pictured) ever published in The Scroll details the Norwegian Synod's purchase of the school and includes a list of the college's instructors.

These scans of the college’s past are courtesy of Bethany Lutheran College’s Archives; to see more of our digital collection, head to the Memorial Library's website! To view physical copies of all past Scroll issues, contact our college archivist.

What are you reading for Banned Books Week this year? Why not a copy of this month's Library Book Club read: Madeleine L'Engle's A Wrinkle In Time?

Since its publication in 1962, this book has regularly been challenged by both Christians and those opposed to Christianity for being both "Un-Christian" and "too Christian." Read the book, and join us for our discussion meeting to form your own opinion!

As the finale to our Flashback Friday series showcasing the BLC Library's history, we are happy to present the Bethany Memorial Library building as you know it today!

Once construction was completed for the new building in 1998, it was quite the task to organize all the books in their new home! Since that time, the Library has undergone several relatively minor changes to suit the changing needs of our students: see if you can spot some of the differences in comparison to present day!

After the BLC Library outgrew its home in Old Main, it migrated to the ORIGINAL Bethany Memorial Library, constructed in 1967. Located halfway between the current locations of the Library and the Trinity Chapel, this rendition of the library served until circa 1996 when it was demolished for structural and size reasons.

More photos of the construction process and dedication event will be available for browsing this Saturday from 11 AM to 2 PM as part of Bethany's Centennial Fall Festival celebration; be sure to stop by!
