Today’s Faculty in the Workplace event brought together faculty and staff from across all colleges and departments throughout campus to connect with industry leaders, share perspectives, and explore the future of the workforce.

A big thank you to our industry partners for sharing their time and expertise, and to the College of Business for providing lunch. We loved seeing so many areas of campus come together around meaningful industry connections!

Today 1 Million Cups Mankato hosted their July event featuring Guled Kassim, founder of LAKESHIELD CORP, a Minnesota-based, veteran-owned company developing deployable structures for emergency response, temporary operations, and institutional deployment needs.

This past semester, Minnesota State University, Mankato mechanical engineering students validated the engineering feasibility of the structures as part of a class project, allowing Guled to move forward with filing a provisional patent application.

Thank you, Guled, for sharing your entrepreneurial journey and demonstrating the power of collaboration between entrepreneurs and students!

We had a great time hosting Hungry for Sales at the Gateway, bringing students together with industry leaders for an engaging lunch and panel focused on real-world sales strategies.

A big thank you to the go to market executive panel from CHS Inc for sharing their time, insights, and experiences. From building strong customer relationships to navigating complex sales environments, the conversation gave students a valuable, behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to succeed in sales today.

Innovation is on full display at the Gateway today as Electrical and Computer Engineering students present their projects, sharing the results of months of hard work, problem-solving, and hands-on learning.

Our Student Executive Team (SET) hosted their annual Entrepreneurs of the Future event last week, welcoming juniors and seniors from four local high schools to the Gateway.

SET is a group of driven students who embody the Maverick Mindset and work to create meaningful events and networking opportunities for COB students.

Throughout the day, SET members led students through a hands-on entrepreneurship simulation and competition, encouraging collaboration, creativity, and confident thinking. From idea generation to final pitches, participants fully embraced the challenge and brought forward some fun concepts.

It’s exciting to see SET not only creating these opportunities, but also inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs to think bigger and take initiative.
