Effective rural health policy is built on listening to the communities it serves. The relaunch of the National Advisory Committee on Rural Health and Human Services can play an important role in advancing solutions for rural behavioral health, workforce challenges, and equitable access to care.

Strengthening rural health starts with listening to the experts who know it best.

Today, HRSA announced the relaunch of the National Advisory Committee on Rural Health and Human Services (NACRHHS). Under the leadership of HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and HRSA Administrator Tom Engels, this federal advisory committee will provide recommendations to the Secretary on improving healthcare and human services in rural communities across the nation.

First established in 1987, the committee has informed federal efforts to strengthen rural health care — addressing maternal health, behavioral health, emergency medical services, rural hospital sustainability, workforce development, and other unique priorities.
