On Sunday, Sept. 12, the 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Fr. Dave Beaudry, director of mission and discipleship for Roncalli Catholic Schools, offers the following reflection:

Were you ever asked to do something you would rather not do? The reading from Isaiah is a profound favorite: “Morning after morning I rise that you Lord God might open my ears that I may hear; and I have not rebelled, have not turned back.” (Isaiah 50:5) This passage reflects the Passion Prediction in the Gospel, where Jesus speaks of his dying and rising. Perhaps the most beautiful response we can give is to say, “What would you have me do this day, Lord?” May we trust, not rebel, not turn back!

As we commemorate the 20th anniversary of 9/11 today, let us take a moment to reflect and pray for the victims, families and friends we hold dear in our hearts on this day.

International Food Fair - Trip 1: Holla

🍽 Come with us as with travel the globe through food on a journey to prepare for the International Food Fair on Saturday, Nov. 6 at Roncalli High School. The event begins at 5 p.m. so mark your calendars!

🔈🧪Roncalli High School has a short-term high school science teacher position available that will need to be filled from approximately mid-October until the end of November, although it could extend until the end of December. This teacher will be responsible for teaching two sections of Introduction to Human Biology (a college course transcripted with the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay) and four sections of Biology.

Roncalli High School runs an A/B block schedule, which also includes a daily Jet Block (period of study, time to get extra help, time for enrichment, etc.).

Interested applicants should apply to Fran Peter, Roncalli High School principal on WECAN. The application number is 122087.🧪🔈

The Church has taught for centuries about the dignity of human work, work and a just wage that supports families and provides the basic necessities for life: food, shelter, clothing. As we celebrate Labor Day today, let us pause and take a moment to reflect and be grateful for all of those who work to contribute to the world around us. No matter what job they may hold, each is important. May those who desire work that is now plentiful, find it. May those who work, find even a brief respite from their labors, and know that our loving God is woven deep in our hearts.

"You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you." -Deuteronomy 15:10

A phrase in today’s Scriptures that stands out is “be opened.” What exactly is being opened? Eyes and ears are! Too often there is so much going on in our lives that we forget what it is like to have eyes that see and ears that hear. For a “wide-eyed” child, the world is very big -- and children hear everything, especially words we say we would rather they not hear! May we not close our eyes and ears to the Lord or to our sisters and brothers, but see and speak with Love, the same Love that we are given by God.

In the Gospel of Mark we are asked to pay attention to our choices, choices that can make our lives miserable and lead us down paths we wish we would have never taken. How do we know that we are living as Jesus lived? Our choices will give life! And, living a life like Jesus is not easy; being a Christian is not easy. Jesus never said it would be. He promises persecutions, but also life. If I desire to do God’s will, then every act, every choice must give life to another, a life born of the Holy Spirit!
