Family, Career and Community Leaders of America(formerly Future Homemakers of America) is the Career and Technical Student Organization for Family and Consumer Science students. FCCLA is a national student organization that helps young men and women become better leaders in their families, careers and communities. Students learn skills for life: planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision m

aking and interpersonal communication. FCCLA is the only student organization with the family as its focus. Members have the opportunity to demonstrate leadership skills through participating in proficiency events, showcasing community service projects, exploring careers, attending educational sessions and electing officers.

Well we may have missed a few labs to be posted so here is a photo dump of some of our Culinary Arts labs this semester! We had so much fun along the way!

Our Culinary Arts students had an amazing field trip filled with local flavor, creativity, and hands-on learning! ☕🍪🥪

We started the day at Roasted where students enjoyed their choice of coffee or tea while learning about the café experience and beverage service.

Next, we visited HAPS Ho**ey Tonk, where owner Andria Lord gave students a behind-the-scenes tour and shared insights about running a successful local business and community gathering space.

Students then had the opportunity to learn the art of cookie decorating from Bites of Joy owner Jeanne Bender, who taught them how to decorate custom sugar cookies using royal icing techniques. The students loved getting creative and putting their own artistic touch on each cookie!

To wrap up the day, students ordered lunch and enjoyed spending time together at HAPS Ho**ey Tonk while reflecting on everything they learned.

A huge thank you to Roasted, HAPS Ho**ey Tonk, Andria Lord, Jeanne Bender, and Bites of Joy for providing such a fun, educational, and memorable experience for our students!

Today Culinary Arts had some fun making homemade compound butter from heavy whipping cream, to use on their homemade bread they baked! Students got to select their own flavor profiles from sweet honey cinnamon to spicy garlic herb seasonings!

The Great Cookie Exchange 2025!!!! Over the last 3 days students prepared cookie dough, baked cookies and then competed for the best tasting cookie. We baked just under 1,000 cookies all in one day. Some of the varieties were peanut butter blossoms, chocolate crinkle cookies, raspberry thumb prints, and ginger snaps! All of the student got to take home a full plate of cookies and the winning group from each hour won prizes!!!

Yesterday, FCCLA celebrated the holidays with their annual Christmas luncheon! Students played games for prizes, enjoyed a white elephant gift exchange and savored a delicious lunch potluck! Happy Holidays from our group to yours! 🎁🎄🎅

FCCLA loved getting a chance to volunteer at the annual preschool family night! Students played games and helped with various activities!

FCCLA members volunteered to help this Saturday at Donuts with Santa! Members set a station and assisted children in making Reindeer Food.

FCCLA recently visited ICC for the Culinary Expo. Students sampled vegan crab cakes, gumbo, warm spinach salad, quesadillas, turkey with celery root Puree and Cherry compote, finished with pumpkin cheesecake and washed down with house made butterbeer (it’s a butterscotch flavored soda). Students got a behind the scene tour with MCHS Alumni Abby Larsen, who is currently enrolled in the ICC Culinary Program. Afterwards students finished with lunch out and a Starbucks tour.

Yesterday, FCCLA volunteered to assist Forman Junior Women’s Club with setting up the Memorial Trees in downtown Manito. Volunteering teaches students to give back to their community, instills leadership skills, creates a strong work ethic and pride. It also builds self esteem and strengthens relationships with peers.

FCCLA wishes all Veterans a Happy Veterans Day! Thank you for your service and dedication to our country! Today we celebrated veterans at the MCHS annual Veterans Day breakfast! FCCLA members greeted guests and shared a gift bag with each. Great Job History League for organizing and all the groups who participated.
