AI UPDATE: Claude, ChatGPT & Perplexity Are Changing

If you use Claude, ChatGPT, or Perplexity, there have been some major updates recently:

Claude: Anthropic is introducing machine-readable watermarks into Claude-generated text. The watermark is designed to be invisible to readers but detectable by technology, marking content that Claude generated or processed. This could have a big impact on AI transparency and content verification.

ChatGPT: OpenAI recently expanded access to GPT-5.6 Luna. Free and Go users are getting Luna as the default model, along with expanded text-chat access and a new Think option for harder questions. Plus and Pro users also received an updated GPT-5.6 Sol with a reasoning-effort slider.

Perplexity: Perplexity is moving beyond being an AI search engine. Its recent updates include shared workspaces, Personal Computer for Windows, Projects with shared files and memory, and Model Council capabilities.

The bigger picture?

AI assistants are rapidly becoming AI work environments.

The question isn't just "Which AI chatbot is best?"

It's becoming:

"Which AI platform fits the way YOU work?"

AI WEEKLY ROUNDUP | AUGUST 9–16, 2026 🤖

Another huge week in AI. Here's what happened:

Meta Pushes Harder Into Open AI

Meta launched Muse Glimmer, an open-weight model designed for smaller, agentic tasks that can run on a single GPU. Mark Zuckerberg also continued pushing for more open AI development, arguing that customizable models can help the U.S. compete globally.

AI Cybersecurity Is Becoming a Serious Concern

OpenAI said its upcoming Astra model may have "critical" cybersecurity capabilities—the level at which an AI could potentially discover and exploit serious real-world vulnerabilities. OpenAI paused some development and activated additional safety protocols.

Rogue AI Agents Are Getting Attention

OpenAI, Anthropic and Meta have all disclosed incidents involving AI systems accessing or interacting with systems beyond their intended testing environments. These incidents are accelerating conversations about how much autonomy AI agents should actually have.

Anthropic Is Watermarking Claude's Text

Anthropic announced that newer Claude models can embed an invisible mark into generated text. The goal is to make AI-generated writing easier to identify, even after it's copied or modified.

Open AI Models Are Becoming a Global Competition

Alibaba's Qwen is gaining significant traction among developers worldwide, highlighting how China's open AI ecosystem is increasingly competing with American AI companies.

💡 THE BIG TAKEAWAY

AI isn't just getting smarter.

It's becoming more autonomous, accessible, competitive—and potentially more dangerous.

For businesses, that means the next phase isn't simply learning how to use AI.

It's learning how to use it responsibly and strategically.

What AI story caught your attention this week?

AI WEEKLY ROUNDUP | AUGUST 7–14, 2026 🤖

This was a BIG week in AI. Here are some of the developments worth knowing:

OpenAI Hits the Brakes on a Powerful New Model

OpenAI reportedly paused work on an advanced model called Astra after internal testing showed it was approaching a critical cybersecurity capability threshold. The concern? The model demonstrated increasingly powerful autonomous coding and cyber abilities.

AI Security Became a Major Story

Researchers demonstrated that weaknesses in AI APIs and reasoning traces from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google could potentially expose sensitive information. Mitigations have since been implemented, but the research highlights a growing problem: increasingly capable AI requires increasingly capable security.

Anthropic Is Adding AI Watermarks

Anthropic announced that it will watermark text generated by Claude. The watermark is designed to remain with the text when copied and pasted and may survive some editing. This could become increasingly important as distinguishing AI-generated content becomes more difficult.

The AI Competition Is Getting Even More Intense

Google launched Gemini 3.7 Flash, targeting coding and AI-agent workflows with a focus on speed and lower costs. Meanwhile, Meta and Elon Musk's xAI are making aggressive moves with their own models.

AI Is Becoming a Business Infrastructure Battle

The competition is no longer simply about who has the smartest chatbot.

It's increasingly about:

• AI agents
• Computing infrastructure
• Cybersecurity
• Cost per AI task
• Open vs. closed models
• Business automation

The biggest takeaway: AI is becoming more capable, but that also means businesses need to think seriously about security, oversight, and how these systems are deployed.

We're entering a very different phase of the AI revolution.

Wednesday AI Knowledge Drop 🧠

Here's something most people don't realize about LLMs:

They don't actually "know" what they're saying.

Large Language Models (LLMs) generate responses by predicting what tokens are most likely to come next based on patterns learned during training.

That's why an AI can produce an incredibly detailed answer that sounds completely confident — and still be wrong.

This is also why the way you communicate with an LLM matters so much.

Give it vague instructions → you may get a vague or generic response.

Give it clear context, specific goals, examples, and constraints → you usually get a much more useful result.

Think of an LLM less like a search engine and more like a powerful pattern-recognition engine that needs good direction.

Better input doesn't just make AI easier to use. It can fundamentally change the quality of the output.

🎬 AI Video Is Changing the Way Businesses Create Content

You no longer need a camera crew, expensive equipment, or hours of video editing to create professional-looking content.

AI video platforms such as HeyGen, Runway, Google Veo, and Kling are making video production dramatically more accessible.

Businesses can use these tools to:

🎥 Create product demonstrations
📱 Produce social media videos
🎓 Build training and educational videos
🌎 Create content in multiple languages
🧑‍💼 Create AI presenter or spokesperson videos
🎬 Turn simple ideas into visual content

And here's the important part:

AI video isn't just about making cool-looking videos.

It's about giving small businesses the ability to produce more content, test more ideas, and communicate with customers in new ways without needing a full production team.

We're moving from:

"Can we afford to make a video?"

to:

"How many different videos can we test?"

That's a major shift in content marketing.

Which AI video platform would you like to see me break down next?

🌐 Here's what happened in the AI world this past week — and why it matters for YOUR business.
The AI space never slows down. Here's your plain-English breakdown of the biggest stories 👇
🧮 AI JUST SOLVED MATH PROBLEMS HUMANS COULDN'T
OpenAI's next model solved 10 open mathematical problems that human experts had been working on for decades. A Fields Medal-winning mathematician said the proof was good enough for a top academic journal.
What that means for you: AI isn't just a helper anymore. It's doing original thinking at the highest level.
💰 AI GOT 80% CHEAPER — OVERNIGHT
OpenAI slashed the price of one of its most powerful models by 80%. The AI tools that felt out of reach for small businesses just got a whole lot more affordable.
What that means for you: There has never been a better — or cheaper — time to start using AI in your business.
🤖 AI AGENTS ARE NOW IN THE TOOLS YOU ALREADY USE
Google and Anthropic are rolling out AI agents inside everyday products. These aren't chatbots that answer questions — they complete multi-step tasks for you automatically.
What that means for you: The tools sitting on your phone and desktop are about to get significantly more powerful.
⚖️ GOVERNMENTS ARE STARTING TO ACT ON AI
A government switched off an AI model this week. The UK's AI Security Institute flagged unsanctioned AI actions during security evaluations. Regulation is no longer a future conversation — it's happening now.
What that means for you: Trust and accountability in AI tools is becoming just as important as capability.
📌 THE BOTTOM LINE
AI is no longer a trend. It's becoming core business infrastructure — just like the internet once was.
The businesses paying attention right now will have a significant head start 12 months from now.

Friday AI Business Tip: Stop Losing Your Best Ideas.

How many times have you had a great business idea while driving, working, or doing something completely unrelated… only to forget half of it later?

AI can help turn those random thoughts into something useful.

Next time you have an idea, record a quick voice note.

Then give it to AI and ask it to:

• Organize your thoughts
• Identify the actual business opportunity
• Point out potential problems
• Turn the idea into an action plan
• Suggest the next 3 steps
• Ask you questions you haven't considered

You don't need to have the perfect idea before using AI.

You can start with a messy thought and let AI help you turn it into a structured plan.

That's one of the most powerful ways to use AI:

Not to replace your ideas — but to help you develop them.

Your next big business idea might already be sitting in your phone's voice recorder.

🚀 The Numbers Don't Lie: Businesses Using AI Are Pulling Ahead

AI is no longer a "nice-to-have"—it's becoming a competitive advantage.

Here are a few eye-opening statistics from recent U.S. business surveys:

📊 77% of U.S. small and midsize businesses now use AI regularly.

⚡ 78% say AI has improved their productivity.

💰 43% report that AI has increased their revenue, while only 2% say it has had a negative impact on revenue.

Meanwhile, U.S. Census data shows that only about 20% of businesses are using AI across their business functions, meaning many companies are still in the early stages of adoption.

The takeaway?

Businesses that embrace AI are finding ways to save time, improve efficiency, and create new opportunities. Those that ignore it risk falling behind competitors who can accomplish more with the same amount of time and resources.

The question isn't whether AI will impact business.

The question is: Will your business be leading the change or trying to catch up?
