Wheat harvest season is here! Every year from mid-June through mid-July, Kansas fields transform from green to golden as one of the most iconic harvests in the country gets underway. Starting in south central Kansas and moving north and west, the harvest covers a state that produces about one-fifth of all the wheat grown in the United States. Follow the harvest at kswheat.com/harvest.

Say hello to board member Cindy Colle!
Cindy has spent more than 30 years in the classroom in the Hutchinson area. She is currently farming and raising 120+ cow-calf pairs. Her agricultural background, combined with her knowledge of education in Kansas, has made her an invaluable asset to the board.
We are grateful for Cindy's passion for educating the next generation!

From the very beginning, we knew it. We knew you, Kansas agriculture. Over 40 years of bringing agriculture into the classroom, and we are just getting started.

Skye Kerr's third graders in Baxter Springs did not just learn about decomposition. They watched it happen.
A classroom worm farm brought composting, soil health, and sustainability to life for students who started the year thinking food waste was just trash. By the end, they were checking on their worms daily, journaling observations, and making connections between healthy soil and the crops Kansas farmers depend on.
One student summed up the moment food scraps visibly started breaking down with a single reaction: "Woooahh."
That is ag literacy doing its job.
(The fruit fly situation that eventually took over the classroom and the hallway was also, arguably, a learning experience.)
Applications for the next mini-grant cycle are now open. Learn more about Skye and apply here: https://ksagclassroom.org/teacher-center/grants-and-scholarships/featured-educators/skye-kerr/
