Young Democrats at Kansas State University works to increase voter awareness and participation in the political process at Kansas State University, in the city of Manhattan and beyond. The primary purpose of the institution is to provide opportunities for students to become active in government through voting, advocacy efforts and volunteerism. Hello, everyone! What’s become incredibly obvious to us, even since the first day of online classes in the spring, is that our club structure is going to have to change.
That being said, our plan for meetings as it stands will be strictly online, with opportunities for smaller groups within our club to meet up in-person depending on how comfortable said groups’ members are with doing so(i.e. Coffee Dems).
Our group will still be able to carry out many of its main features, the most important two being connecting students to campaign resources and being an outlet of discussion and friendship for both politically minded students and young people in Manhattan. Some of our execs are getting trained on better ways to perform text/phone bank meetings through Zoom!
As for those small groups, I’ve created this survey as a means for you all to express what type of new small groups you’d like to see within our club. What these groups might look like is practically up to your imagination, but bear in mind that they must be small(3-5) people with low barriers to entry i.e. cost of membership. Our club is free to join and we’d like for it to be free to be a part of as well.
