"I'm a parent of a new Wildcat. What's New Student Orientation going to look like for me?"

Wow! We are so excited to meet you and your student this summer! Welcome to the K-State Family! πŸ₯Ή

At New Student Orientation, family members have dedicated sessions all about how to support your Wildcat. You'll hear from the parents of current K-State students, discover the resources available to your 'Cat on campus, and learn about ways you can stay connected to the Parents and Family Program.

Your 'Cat has been home for a couple weeks now, and maybe they seem...off.

During summer, it's easy for routines to be disrupted and it's normal for that to take some time to get used to.

But your student has access to high quality care and support, from anywhere in the U.S.

All enrolled students can download TimelyCare or go to timelycare.com to get FREE, on-demand self-care tools, mental health support and so much more. Anytime, anywhere.

K-State has over 250 undergraduate programs to choose from! If that's overwhelming to your Wildcat: we get it. And that's why the Exploratory Studies program is here to help.

If your 'Cat is a pre-health student (or will be soon!) here are 9 questions they should ask their academic advisor πŸ‘‰

1. What science courses are required or recommended for students on my pre-health track?
2. How do AP or dual credit courses apply to my degree requirements?
3. How do professional school prerequisites fit into my major’s curriculum?
4. When should I plan to take math courses like calculus or statistics?
5. Is this major a good fit for me as a pre-health student, and will it help me stay competitive for professional programs?
6. Can you help me understand what I can do with this major if I decide not to pursue a professional health program?
7. What campus resources are available if I feel nervous or need extra support in challenging courses like chemistry, biology, or physics?
8. When is the best time for me to start meeting with a pre-health advisor?
9. Are there opportunities or resources you recommend for gaining experience, like shadowing or volunteering?

Your student is in the driver's seat of their academic journey, and advisors help them navigate the course. From enrolling in courses and setting goals, to discussing study abroad or internships, to problem-solving challenges, and everything in between, academic advisors are an important part of your 'Cats' success team.

And if your student is starting at K-State in the fall, they'll be meeting with an advisor before orientation this summer. These appointments are virtual and last about one hour.
