The T-Shirt is available at the price of $13.56, but this price will go down if over 30 T-shirts are purchased. You can pay for the shirt directly online by credit card, therefore you do not have to worry about providing GTU with cash or check. This shirt is being sold at face value, this is not a fund raiser for GTU. The online form for T-Shirts will close on Friday September 30th. T-shirts are available in a wide range of sizes from Youth XS to Adult 3XL. T-Shirts will be delivered to Seaton two weeks after the online form closes, you can pick up your T-Shirts from Matt Brooks at that time.

On Monday, September 19th , GTU will be conducted our fall highway cleanup. For this event, we need between 5-10 volunteers. The more people we have the quicker the cleanup can go! Our 2-mile stretch of highway is on US-77 (Tuttle Creak Boulevard) a few miles for of town. Last year after the cleanup there was a St. George at Nelson’s Landing in Leonardville and we hope to do the same this year. If you want to volunteer for the cleanup, please send me an email. The cleanup should take no more than 2 hours of time. We will be meeting at Seaton so we can carpool out to the site. We will ideally be leaving from Seaton sometime between 3:00-3:30.

The Great Plains Rocky Mountains Division Meeting will be held this year in Colorado Springs from October 21-22nd. This is a great opportunity to share your research with the greater geography community. If you seeking funding from the department you must be presenting either a paper, a poster, or be part of a GeoBowl Team. GTU will be providing matching funding for this conference. In order to receive funding from GTU you must have payed your dues ($10 for returning members, $10 for Geography Club, $50 dollars for new members) to Matt A. I really hope we can get a big group of K-State geographers to attend this year!

Next week we will be having our first Brown Bag talk of the year. This talk will be on Wednesday the 14th from 12:30 – 1:30 in the Geography Seminar Room. The speaker at this Brown Bag will be Dr. Audrey Joslin. I look forward to seeing you all there.

I hope your first week of classes went well! As you should know GTU's first volunteering event is helping with Konquer the Konza on Sunday September 18th. We need about 5-10 people to help out with event. As of now we have a few volunteers and if you would like to volunteer please email Matt Brooks.
The there are two tasks that GTU needs to help out with:
1. Helping runners to park - this requires an early morning - runners begin arriving around 6:00 am so volunteers would need to be there before then. The upside is they would be able to leave before 7:30 am.
2. Traffic directing - volunteers would be stationed at different spots along the trail to make sure runners took the correct turns along the course. This requires being present from 7:15 am until the last runner comes by your stop - approximately 4 hrs. total commitment.
Let me know if anyone's interested in any jobs. Volunteers are oriented during a meeting on Saturday, Sept. 17th @ 10:00 am (at the Hulbert Ctr). At that time they receive a race t-shirt and specific directions on their job. Anyone who volunteers needs to make the commitment to come to the orientation meeting as well.
