The club was formed to promote the art of dance to the Manhattan, KS area through lessons, special events, and social dancing. Our mission is to encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to learn, enjoy and share the experience of dancing. Whether you've danced all your life or have no dance experience at all, we welcome you to Latin Dance Club! We send out weekly emails during the semesters at the local collage. To join our listserv or to ask any questions, feel free to send us a message to the page. We generally have many members that fly solo. That said, if you have a partner to bring (or just friends to drag along), feel free! The more the merrier. During our lessons we try to rotate partners often, which allows you to meet everyone as well as learn to dance with people of varying skill levels.
2) What should I wear?
- Try to pick out clothes that you feel comfortable moving in. You don't need to dress up especially nice or anything, but try not to dress below what you would wear to class. For footwear, some of our members have dancing shoes, but you don't need to have those to have a great time. Avoid shoes that may come off while moving around (i.e. flip-flips), but in general if you are comfortable wearing them, the shoes should work just fine.
3) Is the club open to non-students?
- Yes! We advertise to students mainly, but we welcome anyone that wants to dance.
4) How much does it cost?
- Our club dues are only $20 for the semester, which helps towards things like keeping our instructors trained, bringing in private instructors, and decorating and prizes for events. We do try to have fundraising opportunities as well to keep our costs low.
5) What styles of dances do you teach?
- Our main styles include Salsa, Bachata, Merengue and Follow/Lead styling. If you're interested in a particular style, let us know!
6) Do I need prior experience?
- We start with beginner lessons, so you don't need to know anything about dancing before the lessons. If you miss a lesson, don't worry because we review regularly!
