🎓 Crash Course: Pregnancy Ultrasounds

Ultrasounds are well known across the US as a standard appointment for all pregnancies but do you know why we do them? Here are 5 fast facts about Ultrasounds:

🤰 Ultrasounds during pregnancy are a type of non-invasive imaging that offers a peek at a developing fetus using soundwaves.

🤰 This technology was not originally used as prenatal care but became an essential part of it during the 60s and 70s.

🤰 You can get a 2D, 3D, and 4D (or moving) ultrasound.

🤰 These are typically used to detect and confirm a pregnancy, estimate your due date, and offer insights into baby's development.

🤰 You may be asked not to use the restroom! Some ultrasounds need a full bladder to ensure they get the images they need.

This incredible technology has been developed, tested, and made safer over decades and the use of Ultrasound is widespread to ensure the safety of pregnancy for both mom and baby. What an amazing tool!

My biggest inspiration for becoming a doula and caring for mothers and babies was to provide the type of support I so desperately needed as a young single mother. My eldest recently turned 18 and it has brought about ALL THE FEELINGS, as you can imagine! In reflecting on my motherhood journey with her, I was inspired to create a way to make our care more accessible for young mothers, parents facing a mental health crisis, or families with difficult circumstances in need of support (deployment, death of spouse or child, etc).

I am reaching out to all of our past and present clients to share this inspiration with you and hope that you will join us in contributing to our Urgent Postpartum Care Fund. For $35 you can sponsor an hour of support for a mom in need and be a part of the village we all so greatly need as parents. Having the right kind of support can make a huge difference and we hope to reach as many families as we can!

Our next Childbirth Academy is scheduled and we're excited to see you there! Put on some comfy clothes, grab your support person, and come learn all about how to navigate the labor and birth process with our experienced doulas.

This course is a 4-part series that covers everything from end of pregnancy preparations, anatomy & physiology of birth, stages of labor, comfort measures, interventions, complications, newborn procedures, and postpartum recovery. You'll walk away feeling more knowledgable and empowered to make informed choices along your birth journey.
