BIG things are happening with Cool Care Club! It's been a LONG 2+ year process, but we're super excited to officially announce that we've purchased nearby property and will continue providing service to the Manhattan community.

After announcing in March that we would close after this summer session due to time constraints and no lease-extension granted from our current landlord to accommodate the construction timeline, we were bombarded and overwhelmed with offers to help find a temporary solution until our new place is ready. Churches, non-profits, businesses, government agencies, community leadership, and concerned citizens reached out with suggestions and offers to help. Licensing requirements drastically restricted ideas to just a couple of viable options but we think we have a temporary location figured out with the City of Manhattan for the month of September.

Demo began this week on our new permanent location. With fingers crossed and prayers lifted, we're hoping that the additional four weeks in September are enough to get remodeling finished at our new property - which is next to Blue Valley Memorial United Methodist Church. We're thankful for them, their partnership, and their love of community.

Cool Care Club has had a fantastic 30 YEAR run! However, due to circumstances out of my control, it looks like this summer will be our final child-care session.

Our lease at First Baptist Church ends on August 31, 2026. I've known for three years that this deadline was out there. Unfortunately, it's taken much longer than expected to locate, negotiate, and renovate a suitable, appropriate, and safe replacement to house CCC.

We had MAJOR plans for relocation and expansion in the works - but hit some snags recently that took longer than expected to work through. With no way to guarantee that the process and work would be complete by August 31, I asked FBC about a possible lease extension. That request was discussed and voted on by First Baptist leadership last night and the request was denied.

I've made the difficult decision to call it quits and give families and the community as much time as possible to make other plans for future care. I hate that this decision impacts more than just me and regret that Cool Care Club can't be a part of the solution for the worsening child care crisis that MHK is facing.

To the 814 families (and 1221 children) that we've served over the past 30 years, thank you for being a part of our story and success. It's been the greatest privilege and honor to help raise your children.
