Today I apologized to my 14-year-old son.

As adults, we think like adults—and sometimes we forget the 14-year-old perspective. He accepted my apology with grace. I poured into him, told him how proud I am, and named things he’s doing now that I never did at his age.

I’m not a perfect parent. But one thing I’ve learned—and hold proudly—is the power of saying I’m sorry, even to our children. It matters. They matter.

They are tiny humans learning and growing every day… and in many ways, so am I, as a mom. 💛

Mi gente the Riverdale Family Orthodontics was extraordinary. The waiting area has children’s books, magazines ( the summer resting teacher in me arose for a moment ) , and they even had teeth models ! The dentist Mrs. Woo was polite, patient, and knowledgeable. The appointment that we had was a free consultation ...Andrew needs a few teeth extractions but the dentist recommended a great place to go to ( we already made an appointment! The Latina mom in me don’t play lol ). They develeoped a payment plan that wasn’t too harsh on my pockets and my insurance even covers a good portion of the cost. In about 6 months Andrew will begin the process of getting braces 😁 I highly recommend this place for any little person getting braces. !Que tú sonrisa ilumine a el mundo 🗺 mis amores!

Mi gente I was so excited to begin sharing with you guys that I didn’t introduce myself...I am Mari. I am a teacher at an all girls dual language school in the South Bronx ...as if that wasn’t challenging enough I am also a mom to three boys. I guess you can say I have my hands full. I am not a perfect mom...I read many parenting books and I am far from qualify to teach anyone the recipe in being that perfect parent. Today the boys and I are heading to riverdale...they have their first orthodontic appointment. I am excited and frighten at the same time....excited because the corny mom in me celebrates every small milestone y con un miedo horrible por el precio. I wonder: Why do most milestones come at such a hefty fee? Mi gente I am seeing $ signs everywhere.
