ππ Honoring World Cancer Survivor Day ππ
Today, on World Cancer Survivor Day, we celebrate the strength, courage, and resilience of cancer survivors everywhere. Every survivorβs journey is a powerful reminder of why cancer research matters and why we remain committed to finding better treatments, earlier detection methods, and ultimately, cures.
At the Johnson Cancer Research Center at Kansas State University, we are inspired by survivors every day. Our researchers and students work tirelessly to advance discoveries that can improve outcomes and bring hope to patients and families facing cancer. From studying the causes of cancer to developing innovative approaches for prevention and treatment, each research breakthrough moves us one step closer to a future where more people not only survive cancer but thrive beyond it.
Today, we honor the survivors who have faced cancer with remarkable determination, remember those we have lost, and stand alongside the families, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and researchers who continue the fight.
Together, through research, education, and community support, we are creating hope and making a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.

π Thank You for Making Pink Up the Pace 5K a Success! π
On behalf of the Kansas State University Johnson Cancer Research Center, thank you to everyone who participated in and supported Downtown MHK's Pink Up the Pace 5K.
This race is more than a runβit is hope. Every step taken, every volunteer hour given, and every dollar raised helps advance cancer research and brings us closer to a future without cancer.
This year, we were especially grateful for the incredible support of our sponsors. A special thank you goes to the Meadowlark Cancer Program for sponsoring and hosting our new Survivor Plaza. This meaningful space provided an opportunity to honor and celebrate the cancer survivors, fighters, and loved ones for whom this race is dedicated.
To our runners, walkers, sponsors, volunteers, community partners, and supporters: thank you for standing with us in the fight against cancer. Together, we are creating hope, supporting research, and helping find a cure.
The Kansas State University Johnson Cancer Research Center extends our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in this yearβs Bill Snyder Half Marathon.
With more than 1,900 runners taking part in the 10k and 5k events, this event was a tremendous success and a powerful demonstration of what our community can accomplish when we come together for a common cause.
We are incredibly thankful for the runners, sponsors, donors, spectators, and supporters whose enthusiasm and generosity help advance cancer research. Your participation makes a meaningful difference in our mission to fund innovative cancer research and train the next generation of cancer scientists.
A special thank you goes to the many volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to make race day possible. From registration and course support to water stations and finish-line celebrations, your commitment helped create an outstanding experience for every participant.
Together, we are more than a race. Together, we are a community united in the fight against cancer. Every step taken and every hour volunteered brings us closer to a future with better treatments, improved outcomes, and ultimately, a cure.
Thank you for helping us advance our mission of finding a cure through research.

We are so proud of you of you and all the important work you do, especially for the Kansas State University Johnson Cancer Research Center!
Congratulations to Dr. Patricia Calvo, in chemistry, on receiving a Big 12 Faculty Fellowship!
Dr. Calvo works to develop functional polymers for applications in biomedicine, environmental sustainability, and advanced materials.
She'll use the fellowship to travel to University of Central Florida for training in materials characterization techniques for electronic materials and explore how polymer systems developed in her lab can be integrated into flexible electronic devices.
