KSU Animal Sciences & Industry Dept. serves students, livestock producers & the animal and food industries through teaching, research & education.

The Kansas State University Animal Sciences and Industry department prepares students for careers in the animal and food industries. The curriculum includes the study of nutrition, reproduction, genetics, behavior, meat science, food science with production, management, and agribusiness skills. Interested in animal science, food systems or livestock production? Join us for The Science Behind the Stock Summer Camp in Garden City for a hands-on day exploring the science behind modern animal agriculture.

Hosted by the K-State College of Agriculture and K-State Department of Animal Sciences & Industry, this interactive camp gives students the opportunity to explore topics like nutrition, food science, anatomy and physiology, reproduction, genetics and animal breeding through hands-on activities and lab experiences.

Camp Details
📍 Garden City High School Animal Science Lab
Monday, June 22 – Students entering 7th–9th grade (2026–27 school year)
Tuesday, June 23 – Students entering 10th–12th grade (2026–27 school year)
🕙 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
💲 $25 per camper
Includes a free t-shirt and steak lunch

Today, the KSU College of Agriculture celebrated graduating graduate students and presented awards for graduate student excellence in teaching and research.

Kristen Kahler recieved the Richard Elmore Brown Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award in the M.S. division and Dani Ellinghuysen earned the Richard Elmore Brown Outstanding Graduate Teaching award in the Ph.D. divison! Thank you, Kristen and Dani, for all you do in and out of the classroom for your students and congratulations on earning these prestiguous awards!
