The Snyder Family Kids K-State Garden Club enjoyed a visit from Mrs. Sharon Snyder for the Saturday class held yesterday.
Sessions to date have included ecosystems, soils & what plants need to grow (David "Wally" Wasser & Carol Kuhlman), a guest presentation on grasses & root functions (Dr Trish Brandt), & building terrariums (Dr Barbara Pearson). The two remaining classes include pollinators (Dr Brian Spiesman), and then a final class field trip to Willow Lake Farm. The class coordinator is Sue White.

Stop by the Gardens today to experience the pungent smell of the Amorphophallus bulbifer. It is smaller than the Co**se Flower but also has a magnificently stinky flower.

Today is your only chance to see this flower in the Gardens.

Amorphophallus bulbifer, or Voodoo Lily, is an exotic, tuberous plant known for its large, umbrella-like foliage and striking, often pink-tinged flower that emerges from the ground, followed by attractive red berries. Native to Asia, it's relatively easy to grow in partial shade, prefers well-drained soil, and is known for producing aerial bulbils on its leaves, which can grow into new plants.

There are a variety of roses, asiatic lilies, and milkweed providing late spring color at Kansas State University Gardens right now, as well as many pollinators hard at work.
