This camp is full of smart cookies!🍪🤓

On day two, campers got a tour of the Hal Ross Flour Mill and got to see where wheat kernels turned into flour and the baking lab where they learned about different types of flour used in the bakery and made chocolate chip cookies. Thank you to Grain Craft , Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Ardent Mills and Bill Barr & Company for teaching the campers what life is like in the industry! Summer camp is now in session! 🌾😎

Campers spent the day in the fields studying crops that had been planted, used the latest technology to analyze it, and learned how to assess the crops after it’s harvested. They ended the day with a bowling party! K-State College of Agriculture K-State Department of Agronomy

Starting summer with a GOLD medal finish 🏆

Graduate students Shivaprasad Doddabematti Prakash, Suhan Bheemaiah Balyatanda, and Jared Lou Rivera earned 1st place in the Student Hygienic Design Competition hosted by 3-A Sanitary Standards Inc.! Their award-winning project, “Dry-to-Safe: Moisture-free powder removal for pathogen-safe processing,” tackled a major challenge in food manufacturing: safely removing dry powder residue from processing equipment without introducing moisture that could harbor pathogens.

Not only did they bring home the championship title, but they also earned $10,000 in prize money! Congratulations to Shivaprasad, Suhan, and Jared on this incredible achievement and for representing the Department of Grain and Food Science with excellence! 💜
