বিদেশের প্রফেসরের সাথে গবেষণার সুযোগ বা কোলাবরেশন চান?

উচ্চশিক্ষার স্বপ্ন পূরণে বা গবেষণাপত্র (research paper) প্রকাশের জন্য বিদেশের প্রফেসরের সাথে যোগাযোগ করা একটি অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ধাপ। কিন্তু অনেক সময় সঠিক গাইডলাইনের অভাবে আমরা প্রফেসরের দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করতে পারি না।

আপনার গবেষণার প্রোফাইলকে প্রফেসরের কাছে আকর্ষণীয় করতে নিচের এই টিপসগুলো এবং ইমেইল ফরম্যাটটি অনুসরণ করতে পারেন:

১. ইমেইল সাবজেক্ট হতে হবে সুনির্দিষ্ট (be specific):
প্রফেসররা দিনে শত শত ইমেইল পান। তাই সাবজেক্ট দেখেই যেন তারা বুঝতে পারেন আপনি কোন বিষয়ে দক্ষ।

উদাহরণ: Prospective Research Collaboration & Publication Opportunity in [Your Research Area].

২. নিজের স্ট্রং পয়েন্ট দিয়ে শুরু করুন:
ইমেইলের শুরুতেই আপনার সবচেয়ে বড় একাডেমিক সাফল্য তুলে ধরুন। যেমন: আপনি যদি First Class First Position অর্জন করে থাকেন বা আপনার যদি বিশেষ কোনো গবেষণার অভিজ্ঞতা থাকে (যেমন: Tryptophan metabolism বা Phytobiotics), তবে তা অবশ্যই উল্লেখ করুন।

৩. প্রফেসরের কাজের সাথে আপনার কাজের মিল দেখান:
প্রফেসর যে বিষয়ে কাজ করেন (যেমন: Soybean meal-free reduced crude protein diets), তার সাথে আপনার পূর্ববর্তী গবেষণার যোগসূত্র তৈরি করুন। এটি প্রমাণ করে যে আপনি তার কাজ সম্পর্কে পড়াশোনা করেছেন।

৪. ল্যাবরেটরি স্কিল হাইলাইট করুন:

🔹 সংক্ষিপ্ত ও স্পষ্ট বার্তা:
• ইমেইল খুব বেশি লম্বা করবেন না।
• মূল কথাগুলো বুলেট পয়েন্টে লিখুন যেন এক পলকেই পড়া যায়।

🔹 একাডেমিক সিগনেচার:
• ইমেইলের শেষে LinkedIn, Google Scholar এবং ORCID লিঙ্ক যুক্ত করুন।
• এটি আপনার প্রফেশনালিজম প্রকাশ করে।

🔹 ফলো-আপ:
• ইমেইল পাঠানোর ১–২ সপ্তাহের মধ্যে উত্তর না পেলে বিনয়ের সাথে একটি রিমাইন্ডার দিন।

Contacting international professors is a crucial step for pursuing higher studies or publishing research papers. However, many applicants fail to attract attention due to a lack of proper guidance.

🔸To make your research profile more appealing, you can follow these tips and email format:

1. Be specific in your email subject:

Professors receive hundreds of emails every day. Your subject line should clearly reflect your research focus.

Example: Prospective Research Collaboration & Publication Opportunity in [Your Research Area]

2. Start with your strongest point:

Begin your email by highlighting your most significant academic achievement.
For example:
• First Class First Position
• Strong research experience (e.g., tryptophan metabolism, phytobiotics)

3. Align your work with the professor’s research

Show how your previous research connects with the professor’s work.
For example, if the professor works on soybean meal-free reduced crude protein diets, explain how your work relates to it.
This demonstrates that you have studied their research.

4. Highlight your laboratory and technical skills

Do not focus only on theoretical knowledge. Briefly mention your technical expertise, such as:
• Experimental design
• Data analysis
• Nutritional studies

🔹 Personalization:
• Avoid copy-paste emails
• Read at least one of the professor’s recent papers and mention it in your email

Professor email এর রিপ্লাই না দিলে follow up কীভাবে করবেন?

🔸আগে ৭–১০ দিন অপেক্ষা করুন:
Professor-রা অনেক সময় teaching, research, grant application, conference, student supervision বা administrative কাজ নিয়ে খুব busy থাকেন। তাই email পাঠানোর পর সঙ্গে সঙ্গে reply আশা না করাই ভালো।

🔹একই email thread-এ polite follow-up করুন:
নতুন করে আরেকটি email না পাঠিয়ে আগের email-এর reply option ব্যবহার করে follow-up করুন। এতে professor সহজে আগের context বুঝতে পারবেন।

🔸Follow-up email short রাখুন (see template 1 and 2):
Follow-up email খুব বড় করবেন না। শুধু বিনীতভাবে মনে করিয়ে দিন যে আপনি আগের email-এর বিষয়ে জানতে চাচ্ছেন।

🔹সর্বোচ্চ ১–২ বার follow-up করুন:
একই professor-কে বারবার email পাঠানো professional নয়। সাধারণত ১ম email-এর ৭–১০ দিন পর একটি follow-up এবং প্রয়োজন হলে আরও ১০–১৪ দিন পর শেষ follow-up করা যেতে পারে।

🔹Parallelভাবে অন্য professor খুঁজুন:
একজন professor-এর reply-এর জন্য বসে থাকবেন না। একই research area-এর আরও potential supervisors shortlist করুন এবং personalized email পাঠান।

🔸Email improve করুন:
Reply না পেলে নিজের email, CV এবং research concept note আবার review করুন।

# দেখুন:
• Email কি খুব বড় হয়ে গেছে?
• Professor-এর research-এর সাথে match পরিষ্কারভাবে লেখা আছে কি?
• Subject line professional কি না?
• CV concise এবং academic-focused কি না?
• Research interest specific কি না?

🔹LinkedIn ব্যবহার করতে পারেন:
Email reply না পেলে LinkedIn-এ politeভাবে connect করতে পারেন। তবে LinkedIn-এও short and professional message পাঠাবেন।

🔸Negative response পেলেও professional থাকুন:
যদি professor বলেন position/funding নেই, তাহলে ধন্যবাদ জানিয়ে reply করুন। ভবিষ্যতে সুযোগ তৈরি হতে পারে।

What should you do if a professor does not reply?

🔸 Wait for 7–10 days first:
Professors are often busy with teaching, research, grant applications, conferences, student supervision, or administrative work. So, it is better not to expect an immediate reply after sending an email.

🔹 Send a polite follow-up in the same email thread:
Instead of sending a completely new email, use the reply option in your previous email thread. This helps the professor easily understand the previous context.

🔸 Keep the follow-up email short (see templates 1 and 2):
Do not make the follow-up email too long. Just politely remind them that you are following up on your previous email.

🔹 Follow up only 1–2 times maximum:
Sending repeated emails to the same professor is not professional. Usually, you can send one follow-up 7–10 days after the first email and, if needed, a final follow-up after another 10–14 days.

🔹 Search for other professors in parallel:
Do not wait for only one professor’s reply. Shortlist more potential supervisors in the same research area and send personalized emails.

🔸 Improve your email:
If you do not receive a reply, review your email, CV, and research concept note again.

Check:
• Is your email too long?
• Is the match with the professor’s research clearly explained?
• Is the subject line professional?
• Is your CV concise and academic-focused?
• Is your research interest specific?

🔹 Use LinkedIn if needed:
If you do not receive a reply by email, you may politely connect with the professor on LinkedIn. However, keep your LinkedIn message short and professional as well.

🔸 Stay professional even if you receive a negative response:
If the professor says there is no position or funding available, reply politely and thank them. Future opportunities may still arise.
