Pipettes + water colors!

Pipette mastery involves SO many skills, not only the physical skills of fine motor and hand eye coordination but also the cognitive element of puzzle-solving and logical reasoning of learning how the pipette functions; how to successfully use it to pick up a liquid and then release the liquid onto another surface - such a proud teacher moment! Plus the colors we created were just so beautiful! 🌸🦋

HELLO SPRING! 🌸 Sensory bins with real soil, flowers, leaves, twigs, raffia, ‘birds eggs’ and bugs! Using a mix of tools to finesse those fine motor skills (jumbo tweezers, shovels and - of course - hands!) and explore. This gave us SO much to talk about too - colors, insect names, number of eggs, textures and more!

SAVE THE ANIMALS!

After seeing use tape and save the animals in so many creative ways, I finally had a chance to try it in the classroom during our Farmyard theme - safe to say it was a huge hit with every single student!!

‘How often do coffee lovers think about coffee?
They think about it a latte.’

Our theme of the week is FOOD so I transformed our classroom into a restaurant. We had a coffee shop - this consisted of the students putting together their ‘drink’ (literally putting the sleeve on and the lid, and drawing their ‘name’ on it and decorating it) and using their imaginations to pretend what was in the cups! (Mainly coffee but some tea and juice too!)

We had a pretend coffee machine with milk, sugar and mugs which was a great success and a wonderful addition was the cash register, item scanner and credit card swiper ! Each student had a simple piece of coloured paper that was their ‘credit card’ which enabled them to ‘buy’ different items from the restaurant.

Of course we also had our kitchen open to ‘cook’ in!

This was a really wonderful immersive dramatic play experience ☕️❤️
