Every quilt tells a story, let me tell you about Baba. I've known Baba and her family for over 30 years!

She was the kind of woman who spent her whole life taking care of everyone else.
After losing her only son in a tragic accident when he was just 22 years old, and later her husband, she eventually gave up their home and moved across the country to be closer to family. Even after all the heartbreak she carried, she continued pouring love into everyone around her.

When get granddaughter Amy was a single mom working night shifts, she stepped in and helped raise her babies. After surviving a massive heart attack herself, she still spent entire summers caring for five great-grandbabies so the cousins could grow up making memories together.

Then seven years ago, she experienced another unimaginable loss when another child passed away from a massive heart attack.
Three years ago, she suffered a stroke, and every single day since, her family has deeply missed the woman who rocked babies, taught them how to cook, worried over them, and loved them fiercely.

These memory quilts have brought so much comfort to everyone. Being able to wrap themelves in pieces of clothing they remember her wearing feels like holding onto little pieces of her love.

Her daughter's quilt has been such a comfort. Her grandson Adam's quilt includes her jeans and the shirt she wore the day he went missing as a little boy and she frantically searched everywhere for him. He keeps his quilt hanging in his closet so he sees it every morning when getting ready for work and every night before bed — a small reminder that her love is still with him every day.

Baba was an incredible woman who was loved by so many and I was honored to give her family a way to hold onto those memories.

Every quilt has a story, let me tell you about Mercedes! At just 20 years old she came to the States from Cuba. She worked hard to become a teacher, earning not one, but two masters degrees, instilling the importance of education in her children. Mercedes loved to read and took every opportunity she could to travel with her son, Eddy, when he traveled for work. Some of her favorite moments were when she could spend time with her whole family. I admire her incredible sense of fashion, she wasn't afraid to wear bold colors and patterns, usually partnered with red manicured nails. Thanks so much Eddy for trusting me to make your memory quilt! ❤️
