My brother sent me this story about actress Shelly Winters, who was a star of stage and screen. I laughed out loud, then cheered out loud! For years, I have said that so many women I know are constantly and continuously asked to prove our worth. To put our resumes out there for others to decide our worth. Well, F to that! Our lives, our experiences, our resilience — that’s our resume!
We’ve changed lives, organized lives, birthed lives, and kept it all together! That’s our resume! You have nothing to prove to anyone. Walk forward, head high, shoulders back. Let’s go!

We don’t really know where the fixation many people have on trying to change their body’s pH came from but spoiler: you can’t. And we don’t know why you’d want to anyway.
If your body’s pH does change, that’s a sign that you’re severely ill and need immediate medical attention for a potentially fatal condition.
The pH of our blood is 7.4 which means the rest of our body is also a pH of 7.4. There are a few exceptions, such as the stomach compartment, which have different pH levels that are also regulated for very specific purposes. However, you can’t simply change any of those because that would signal to our body that something has gone wrong.
If you tuned into our podcast episode on alkaline diet and alkaline water you’ll remember we talked about how our body is tightly regulated to maintain homeostasis, or a constant state. This involves a complex network of organs and buffers and all sorts of sensory and regulatory processes.
You can’t alter these regulatory processes because they’re essential for our bodily functions. And you certainly can’t change them by drinking water or eating alkaline food. It doesn’t matter what you consume, as soon as it enters your digestive tract, our body starts to process those substances and maintain the pH that our body needs to be.
This myth that so-called alkaline water and foods are somehow beneficial to our bodies or help cure ailments has stubbornly persisted due to wide circulation of misinformation. Please believe in credible sources and don’t fall prey to this sort of pseudoscience. And tune into our podcast episode on this topic for more information!
