It is with a heavy heart that we share this sad information about the recent passing of our friend and classmate, Michael Peter Mentges.
October 9, 1954 - March 17, 2024
Michael Mentges a long-time resident of Manhattan Beach, passed away on March 17, 2024 at the age of 69.
Born to Peter and Sonja Mentges on October 9, 1954 at Queen of Angels Hospital, Los Angeles, CA.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife Carmen of 40 years, loving daughter Ashley, his brothers Mathias Mentges, Manfred Mindnich, Boris and Dimitri Hallerbach, and Stepmom Nina Mentges.
Michael graduated from Mira Costa High School in 1973, later receiving an AA degree from El Camino College. He started his 40-year career in the Produce Export industry working for his father's company PAMCO Air Fresh, and later PAMCO International. For the last 9 years, he went on to work for DLJ Produce as a Warehouse and Field Quality Control Inspector. Michael was passionate about his work, and he made lifelong friends along the way throughout a great career.
Michael was a compassionate husband, father, brother, family member, friend, neighbor, and coworker. He was always a helping hand to all those he met. He valued family most but loved fishing, hunting, scuba diving, skiing, and hanging down at the beach when time allowed. Those who were lucky to have met Michael will feel his loss for a very long time. May he rest in peace.
There is a celebration of life being planned in May, and family and friends will be notified.

I have a few requests for the photos that were displayed on the big screen last night. I will also update it with last nights photos as I get them. When I get home on Tuesday I will set up a special google drive. They’re all the photos I have collected through the years. If you are interested in access just send me your email. Bonnie.
