del Sol Preschool - Kindergarten: a Reggio-inspired Community

You all knew that authentic play-based early education programs impel meaningful goals, serious hard work, skills acquisition, perseverance, high achievement = high self esteem -- right?!

Day 2 continuing with water track explorations with intense focus leading to new discoveries and satisfying new construction of learnings/knowledge. Do you see his thinking? It's still marvellous and wondrous to my 40 yrs of being an early childhood educator🤩

Here comes another, or perhaps the same, hungry squirrel from my previous posting looking to dine on pine nuts this afternoon. He hung downward on the wide pine tree trunk with his hind feet while using his two front arms and hands fot turning the pinecone to find and eat left over pine nuts. So fun to watch!
Today we were also visited by baby lizards that made us squeal at their darting and giving us quite a chase to keep up with them. We found loads of wiggly worms in our flower bed just underneath our del Sol wood-carved sign, too. And we have our almost constant monarhs, caterpillars, and milkweed plants in various stages, including two having gone to seed. They are so fascinating to the children. I love our nature-rich Outdoor Classroom just as much as the children🎶

LIVE! Our Nature-laden Outdoor Classroom has a resident squirrel who is treating herself to a freshly fallen green pinecone. She is amazingly confident around us. A few hours earlier, she hopped up on our picnic table and carried away my partially eaten apple. After she finished devouring the pine cone, she carried the rest of the apple up one of our pine trees!
