Thanks to all the families who came to support Earth Month 🌍along with MBNS at the beach on April 18! We played and enjoyed the sand and water and unearthed items that needed picking up: plastic, paper, to-go containers, fish hooks! Thank you to all the collectors and cleaners… you all gave back to the ocean this day! 🌊❤️☀️

On Tuesday, Dec. 9, Sloopy’s Beach Cafe in Manhattan Beach will be hosting a fundraiser and donating 20% of their receipts from the end of the day to Manhattan Beach Nursery School (all receipts, including dine-in and take out). We encourage you to spread the word and eat at Sloopy’s Tuesday!

The Harvest Festival is a joyful celebration of fall that includes pumpkin decorating, non-competitive game booths, cupcake decorating, face painting, food and much more! It is truly a family favorite, and our largest fundraising event of the year.

“My child never paints!” That’s ok. Some children don’t like the tactile feel or the dripping and…are we limiting them because some adults only let children put paint onto paper?
What if their favorite 3 dimensional object could hold paint? Plastic washes off! They paint what they know; what matters to them most, like a tractor. Then sometimes they move to paper and sometimes we need a photo to share the process with the family… and not a product.
Paint on!

Why mixed ages matter… someone who has just learned how to do something is the best person to teach another person. They held it just now in their hand, and they experienced it just now with their ears and eyes and understood it! So now they can share that knowledge with another so effortlessly . This day an adult who had been a child at MBNS themselves helped a child understand how this juicer worked. Then, that child told a younger child about the motor, the spindle, the power cord, the fruit….learning from our elders is powerful, even if they are months older.
Hooray for this juicer that has lasted us for 30+years. It never fails to delight and feed and make us wonder…
