Today, our middle school students took time to learn about September 11, 2001, and examine how our nation responded in the days, months, and years that followed. 🇺🇲
Through a sociological perspective, students explored three important themes:
🤝 Prosocial Helping Behaviors— how people directly came together to help and support one another
💪 Community Resilience— how individuals and communities responded to and recovered from tragedy
🌎 Long-Term Social Change— how 9/11 influenced our nation and society over time
Students then examined 12 different responses to 9/11 and determined which sociological category each response best represented.
Through thoughtful discussion and reflection, our students were reminded that studying history is not only about understanding what happened—it is also about understanding how people respond, come together, and shape the future.
