Dove Awards week with this team. 🕊️

For the past several years, I’ve worked with a production company that hosts Christian artists with worship choirs and orchestras in iconic venues like Carnegie Hall, etc. GMA hires that same company to help run Dove Week. It’s the only thing we do all year that isn’t a performance, and it’s one of my favorites.

Red carpet with the crew, plus three of us ladies going full Charlie’s Angels. The video of us getting the shot says it all.
I loved running into friends and cheering on friends who were nominated this year.

Watch the show tonight on TBN or the TBN+ app, 6:30 and 9 pm Central.

Next up for this team: Carnegie Hall, the Friday after Thanksgiving. A few tickets left.

Home for a few days, and now back in Nashville. It’s Dove Awards week! 🕊️

This week I’m on the other side of the music. I work with a production company that typically hosts concerts with Christian artists at iconic venues, and each year GMA hires them to run the fan experience for the Dove Awards. With our team of about eight, we were up until 1:18 a.m. folding t-shirts (with great instruction and skill, haha) and sorting everything each guest needs this week.

We each had a role. I had name badges, and others had tickets for the different events, like the worship night at the Ryman and the Dove Awards. It turns into a “card” game every year: “Who has this person’s name? What ticket do they get?” Then it’s like Uno, racing to see who goes out first. Sawyer won. I came in second.

Tomorrow we check in 450 guests, then head downtown for the New Artist Showcase, where this year’s New Artist nominees will perform. Some of my songwriting friends from last week are performing at events this week too, and I can’t wait to cheer them on.

This “card” game we play every year prepping for Dove Week needs a name. Leave your best idea in the comments!

Last week I was part of two writing camps and came home with eight new songs and a renewed sense of purpose.

The first sharpened my craft in writing congregational songs for the Church. The second, the Song Share writing camp, reminded me what real creative community looks like: writers who are invested in each other’s growth long after the week ends.

Thank you to Jessica Hitte for building that community and for mentoring me. No one does it better.

Thank you Brian Brister for capturing the week so beautifully in photos for our SongShare family.

I’m stepping into this next season with more intention than ever, and I’m excited for what’s ahead. Back to Nashville tomorrow to work the Dove Awards.

What a week in Nashville! 🎶 Wrapped up two songwriting camps with 8 new songs written and deeper friendships.

Grateful for every writer I got to create with.

Home for a few days and then back to Nashville to work GMA Dove Awards Week. Should I even bother unpacking?

Two days of writing at Writing Worship camp with Krissy Nordhoff in Franklin, TN 🎶 Four co-writes, group psalming, and industry feedback in the writing rooms.

So grateful for Krissy and Eric Nordhoff’s heart for songwriters and the church, and for Rachel Thomas, who mentored me earlier this year. 💛

New songs are coming that I can’t wait for you to hear 👀

Come as you are! We’re doing this together, building healthier, freer voices one month at a time. This is your invitation.

If your voice isn’t healthy, everything else is in vain. This session covers everyday vocal health: hydration, rest, immunity, allergies, cold & flu season, proactive care, the stuff that keeps your instrument going year-round. Science, scripture, and decades of learning my own voice the hard way.

For singers, professional speakers, teachers, everybody who uses their voice.

You have the ideas. The voice memos, the lyric scraps, the melody stuck in your head for months. Foundations is where all of that finally becomes a finished song.

This is a small, semester-long songwriting online cohort, beginners who want to learn it right, and experienced writers who want to go deeper. We meet, we write, we give feedback, we dig in together. By the end, you’ll have real songs ready for pre-production and to release for others to hear. Songs are only impactful to others if we let them have an opportunity to hear it. What do you have that you wa t others to hear?

Excited to share with you things I’ve learned over the years from some of my songwriting mentors and other things I’ve learned along the way.

Starts August 25. Spots are limited. See in class!

INTRO TO MUSIC INDUSTRY CLASS!

Nobody hands you a manual for the music industry, so I made one.

Once a month I’m teaching a class on the practical stuff every independent artist needs to know: PROs, royalties, the difference between an artist and a songwriter, and how to actually build something sustainable on your own. $35.

I LOVE helping singers find their way with their music dreams. But I understand there are often scheduling issues with in person sessions.

So, I’m opening up a monthly workshop for singers who want live technique help, real talk on vocal health, and a few minutes of live feedback in the zoom room!

Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been singing for years and want a tune-up, this one’s for you. $35, once a month.

Over the years I’ve worked with more than 4,000 singers, in the studio, on stage, behind the scenes on the industry side of things. Along the way, people started asking me questions outside of our regular time together. Copyright questions. “Is this melody too close to someone else’s?” “How do I even start pitching a song?” “My voice feels off, is this normal?”

If you’re already one of my vocal or Artist Development clients, you already get this kind of access built into our time together… it’s just part of working with me. But if you’re not, and you’ve got a question and don’t want to commit to ongoing lessons, I made a space for that too.

Office Hours is a one-off, book it anytime, no commitment needed. Vocal health, songwriting feedback, music business admin, copyright, recording questions, song structure, whatever’s on your mind. 20 minutes, phone call or Zoom, your choice. $39.
