Fun Fact Friday!

Did you know that the graphite in an average pencil can write a line about 35 miles long?

That's roughly the length of 130 football fields.

It's pretty amazing to think about how much writing is packed into one little pencil. Proof that great things can come in small packages!

Fun Fact Friday!

📚 One of the world's oldest surviving literary works is thousands of years old!

The Epic of Gilgamesh dates back more than 4,000 years (around 2100 BCE) and tells the story of a legendary king and his adventures. It was written on clay tablets in ancient Mesopotamia, a historical region of West Asia.

From clay tablets to paperbacks to audiobooks, storytelling has been helping people learn, imagine, and connect for thousands of years.

I’m very excited to announce the Grand Opening of our brand new Scholars Education Center in Mandeville Thursday March 28 at 11:30am.

We have a very special guest coming out to help us celebrate as New Orleans Saints superstar Cam Jordan will be in attendance to say hello to everyone who stops by.

Bring the family out for food, games, giveaways (including a new iPad), face painting, and more fun and surprises.

Also, I just want to thank the team here in Mandeville and at Scholars HQ for making this possible. I’m always willing and able to help kids and opening a Scholars here will provide students in the community with a welcoming space where they can learn and grow. I’m a huge believer in Scholars because I’ve seen it work. It’s really amazing and I’m proud to be a part of it.

Exciting News! Come celebrate with us.

The entire team at Your Local POD is blown away by the amount of support that we have received from our community. Many local businesses have stepped up wanting to share in our ribbon cutting ceremony this Thursday. As you already know- THE POD SQUAD likes to spread a little more pizazz and fun in everything we do. So we decided to host a POD PARTY since our families are the reason that we get to do what we love every single day. Come enjoy some kid-friendly activities: take a picture with the Easter Bunny, go on an Easter egg hunt, dip some chocolate, make some cotton candy, get hair tinsel, walk into a snow globe, play some skee-ball, meet a goldfish and a shark, flip some tires, learn about summer camps and do some last minute shopping for Easter gifts. There may even be a special guest appearance by a very popular Saints player. Be sure to let us know if your family plans to attend!

Overflow parking is available next door at First Baptist Church of Mandeville.
