I think it makes total sense that the symptoms of ADHD are less when the neurodivergent person is challenged in multiple ways.
Thoughts?

A new long-term study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry has proven to be an excellent next step in getting a better understanding of the disorder, showing that a lot of what’s commonly believed or assumed about ADHD is incomplete or just flat-out wrong.

Researchers studied 483 participants who were diagnosed with ADHD in childhood and continued to assess them for a period of 16 years. The study’s authors wanted to get a sense of how ADHD symptoms might change over time.

What the researchers found surprised them. In most participants, symptoms of ADHD fluctuated greatly over the years rather than staying consistent. What surprised them even more were the environmental factors that seemed to play a role in those fluctuations.

Researchers expected that greater life demands—like more responsibility at work, a heavier workload at school, major life changes, etc.—would exacerbate ADHD symptoms. What they found was the opposite.

It makes sense that a person who struggles with inattention or hyperactivity might have more trouble focusing when they have more “going on” and more distractions to pull them in different directions. It was a huge surprise to the researchers that, actually, people’s ADHD symptoms seemed to ease up when life got hectic.

“We expected the relationship between environmental demands and ADHD symptoms to be the opposite of what we found,” study author, professor, and clinical psychologist Margaret H. Sibley explained. “We hypothesized that when life demands and responsibilities increased, this might exacerbate people’s ADHD, making it more severe. In fact, it was the opposite. The higher the demands and responsibilities one was experiencing, the milder their ADHD.”

When we build on our strengths, everyone grows! 🤩

Our approach isn't about managing challenges. It's about understanding, embracing, and amplifying the unique brilliance of neurodivergent minds. Davis methods help individuals harness their visual-spatial thinking as the strength it truly is.

One of my favorite clients ever stopped by for a refresh session recently.
This kid. He's brilliant. 🤩
Reading was such a struggle.

The first couple of days of his program, I was after field trip tired because he is so quick. Perfect example, we did an experiment once to raise his interoception on how quickly his brain shifts. He told a story, drew a picture, and watched a football clip all within a few minutes. It was close to seamless.

At the end of his reading program, he had gained four grade levels with full comprehension.
In this recent session, he read a (above grade level) seventh grade passage fluently and with almost perfect comprehension.
(Honestly, I couldn't help but wonder what he could have done with the ninth grade passage.)

My goal for every client is never just to overcome the barriers to reading or math. My goal is to equip them with the tools they need—and help them learn how to use those tools—to become independent learners.
Once they have that, the possibilities are endless. They get to become whoever they want to be, without unnecessary barriers holding them back. đź’•

I was recently in Louisiana facilitating some programs and I met with a previous client who successfully completed a Math Program last summer. When I first met him, it could be difficult to make out what he said because he whisper-spoke often with a sense of uncertainty. He mastered mathematical concepts and I saw a change in his confidence.
One year later- almost to the day- this guy came strolling into the office with a big grin and eye contact. Wow! His self confidence was wonderful to see. I can't wait to see all that he accomplishes! 🤩
I am not claiming that all of his changes are a result of his successful program, but I do know things change externally when a client's internal script flips from, "I can't." to "I can!"

Highlight! 🥳
A recent eight-year old client was unique in that his struggles in reading were almost exclusively as a result of his inability to master his attention.
Like a lot of clients, he was quick but below grade level in reading. Somewhere between mastering change and effect, things clicked into place for him.
He really began to show growth in all executive functioning areas- even patiently waiting his turn during board games. 🤩
When he did a little reading excercise just to showcase sequencing, he jumped a grade level, then another! 🤩

This method is so incredible! 🤩

NeuroPath Central offers intensive one-on-one programs that allows nontraditional learners to master the concepts associated with reading, executive functioning, or math. Come see what a difference a week can make!
