The Morton County Fair is coming up next week and our office will be closed Wednesday the 29th - Friday the 31st.

Yesterday the USDA-ARS Northern Great Plains Research Laboratory in Mandan hosted their Friends and Neighbors Day. While it was hot; the NDSU Extension table was popping. Thank you for letting us come out and be a part of the community.

Rethinking Challenging Behaviors with the Brain in Mind. In this talk, Dr. Bryson brings her No-Drama Discipline perspective to everyday parenting challenges. She reframes discipline to mean teaching skills and helps parents understand what children’s behavior is really communicating. By “chasing the why” behind behavior and using day to day moments to effectively help kids become self-disciplined, parents will discover how combining nurture and structure supports regulation, builds skills, and strengthens relationships. When adults respond with curiosity and connection, combined with limits and rules—rather than fear or force—behavior changes, conflicts become opportunities for building the brain, and connection deepens. Complete with a little brain science, candid stories, practical tools, and a great deal of compassion and humor, this talk helps parents work with their child’s developing brain while setting clear, consistent limits.
