Clay County HOSA would like to give a very special THANK YOU to PopTop Drink Co. for hosting a fundraiser for our chapter today!

Not only were the drinks (and treats 😋) absolutely delicious, but your willingness to support our HOSA students means so much to us. Fundraisers like this help give our students opportunities to participate in HOSA activities, competitions, leadership experiences, and so much more throughout the year.

We are incredibly grateful for local businesses that choose to invest in our students and support what they are working toward. ❤️

Our Building & Apartment Maintenance, Welding, Information Technology, and Construction Technology students spent their first week learning shop expectations, completing safety videos and tests, getting familiar with their work areas, and preparing for the hands-on learning ahead.
It may not be the flashiest part of the year—but it’s one of the most important! 💯
The safety gear is coming out, the shops are waking up, and we’re just getting started!

💙💚 TAKE WHAT YOU NEED! 🖤💛

Our CALM Committee (Connect • Accept • Listen • Motivate) added a little encouragement to our student commons today! Students filled this board with reminders that sometimes we ALL need to hear:

✨ You are loved.
✨ You are worth it.
✨ Keep going.
✨ Someone believes in you.
✨ You make a difference.
✨ Be kind.
✨ You’ve got this!

The idea is simple: Take what you need.
Having a rough day? Need a little confidence? Feeling overwhelmed? Find a message that speaks to you and take it with you.

And when you’re able, leave a little encouragement behind for someone else.
Sometimes a few kind words can change the direction of someone’s entire day.

We’re proud of our CALM students for continuing to find simple ways to make our school a place where students feel seen, supported, and encouraged. 🫶

💚🩷 MEET THE FOUNDER OF CALM — EMILY HENSON 🩷💚

Sometimes the best ideas begin with one person deciding they want to make a difference.

Clay County ATC HOSA member Emily Henson, a senior at Clay County High School, founded CALM — Connect • Accept • Listen • Motivate after seeing firsthand how mental health struggles can affect someone’s life.

Emily wanted to create something that would encourage students to look out for one another, spread kindness and positivity, and remind every student that their voice matters, they are important, and they are never alone. 💚

Through CALM, we hope to continue building a school culture where students feel seen, heard, accepted, and supported.

Emily’s goal this year is simple but powerful: spread positivity and kindness throughout our school.

Hope everyone enjoyed their popsicle on Friday. Be on the lookout for more random acts of kindness this school year.

We are incredibly excited to watch Emily and our CALM members take that vision and turn it into action throughout the 2026–2027 school year.

🩺❤️ MEET OUR 2026–2027 HOSA OFFICER TEAM!

Clay County ATC is excited to introduce the students who will be leading our HOSA chapter this school year!

⭐ President: Destiny Lovins
⭐ Vice President: Trevor Howard
⭐ Secretary: Zoey Allen
⭐ Treasurer: Brianna Hacker
⭐ Historian: Abigail Hibbard
⭐ Parliamentarian: Kalynne Jones

These students have already set some great goals for the year—from getting more members involved in HOSA competitions and projects, to serving our community, building leadership skills, helping others feel included, and growing our HOSA chapter.

We’re looking forward to watching them put their ideas into action and make the 2026–2027 school year one to remember! 🖤💛

And just like that…we’re BACK!

The first day of school is officially in the books! Was it a little chaotic? Absolutely. Were there schedule changes, lots of questions, new faces, and a whole lot of figuring things out as we went? Yes!

But underneath all that first-day craziness, there was also a lot of excitement, positive energy, and the feeling that this is going to be a good school year.

A special thank you to the Clay County Board of Education for making our teachers feel appreciated with bags full of school goodies! Such a thoughtful way to start the year!

Seeing the colorful affirmations and encouraging messages in the student commons area is a reminder to our students that they are welcome, valued, and AMAZING just the way they are!

When Abigail Reynolds heard about Prosper Appalachia at Clay County High School, she immediately recognized an opportunity to explore her future career in dental hygiene while still in school.

Through Prosper Appalachia, Abigail gained valuable career guidance, workplace exposure, and hands-on experience that helped strengthen her plans for life after graduation. The program connected her with resources and support to explore the dental field, build career-ready skills, and take meaningful steps toward her future.

“I was interested in dental hygiene, so I thought that would be great for me for life after high school or working towards college,” Abigail shared.

Now a graduate of Clay County High School, Abigail is preparing to pursue a college dental hygiene program with a strong foundation of career knowledge and experience already in place.

🎉 WELCOME BACK, ATC STUDENTS! 🎉

Tomorrow we open our doors and kick off a brand-new school year at Clay County Area Technology Center!

We’re excited to welcome back familiar faces, meet our new students, and start another year of learning, creating, building, caring, and growing together.

Last year was our first year settling into our new school. This year, we’re ready to build on that foundation with more opportunities for our students to discover just what they’re capable of.

Whether you’re learning to build it, weld it, code it, care for it, or lead it—there’s a place for you at the ATC.

Come ready to learn, try something new, make some memories, and maybe even discover the career that changes your future.
