Language skills 🤝 unforgettable adventures in Granada! 🇪🇸✨

This summer, a group of Saint Anselm students traveled to Granada, Spain with Prof. Marigen Learnard to study Spanish and intern in the local community. The Modern Languages & Literature Department prepared students for this intensive month-long program that builds Spanish language skills and cultural discovery.

Students interned with both local hospitals and schools to build upon their academic major and skills. They also enjoyed cooking classes, exciting excursions, living with host families, and engaging with the community.

Matthew Collins ’28 had the coolest camp counselor job this summer — teaching kids about drones right here on the Hilltop! 💫

The Computer Science major with minors in Cyber Criminology and Theology worked with Profs. Adam Albina and Michael Huelsman at the Drone Camp. The action-packed week saw high school students learn to build, code, and fly high-tech aerial vehicles while diving into the exciting world of artificial intelligence and robot ethics.

Collins said he relished the mentorship role for this drone camp that is unique to Saint A’s. Among the topics they covered included remote surveillance, robotic labor, autonomous warfare, and more.

“What makes the Drone Camp special is its embodiment of the liberal arts,” he said. “Students receive a well-rounded education about drones, focusing not just on how and why they work, but also our ethical obligations.”
