Student Spotlight: Abigail Ciarametaro

What can you discover by digging into New Hampshire’s past? For MCC Social Science student Abigail Ciarametaro, the answer includes centuries-old artifacts, stories waiting to be uncovered and a deeper connection to history.

Last summer, Abigail participated in The Encounter Project, a four-week archaeological excavation at the historic home of General John Sullivan in Durham, NH. Working alongside students and faculty from the Community College System of NH and UNH, she helped uncover artifacts including hand-forged brick, pottery, animal bones and toys from beneath former slave quarters.

Her passion for history goes far beyond the excavation site. From her work at Mt. Kearsarge Museum to researching historic New England towns and participating in MCC activities, Abigail is finding plenty of ways to bring history to life.

MCC President Paul Beaudin joined Senator Maggie Hassan, SNHU President Lisa Ryerson, students and educators for a discussion about the bipartisan RISE Act (Respond, Innovate, Succeed, and Empower Act) and its potential to reduce barriers for students with learning challenges in higher education.

The conversation highlighted the importance of accessible support for students, including those who may face challenges related to learning differences, ADHD, physical or health conditions, and other needs. At MCC, providing students with the resources and support they need to succeed is an important part of our commitment to student success.

The discussion also highlighted the work of MCC faculty and staff who support students throughout their educational journeys and the importance of continued investment in accessibility services and resources.

MCC students have plenty of opportunities to get involved, connect with others and explore their interests beyond the classroom!

This morning, members of the MCC community gathered at the flagpole with students from TP-USA to recognize Constitution Day and the start of Constitution Week.

Students read the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution and shared a brief overview of the importance of the document, including the Bill of Rights.

Constitution Week is observed September 17–23, commemorating the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787.

A new year of learning, growth and hands-on experience is underway for MCC Nursing students! 🩺

Our second-year students are beginning their final year in the program, while our largest-ever freshman class, with 80 admitted students, is starting its journey toward becoming registered nurses.

It’s exciting to see these two groups together as they learn, grow and prepare for the rewarding work ahead. Here’s to a great year for our MCC nursing students! 💙

Today, we remember.

On Wednesday, members of the MCC community gathered at the flagpole for a brief remembrance honoring the lives lost and all those impacted by the events of September 11, 2001.

As we mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we pause to remember, reflect, and honor the lasting impact of that day.

Thank you to MCC’s Social Science program and TP-USA chapter for bringing our community together in remembrance.

The Scott Mullin Memorial Ride continues to make a meaningful impact by supporting scholarships for students pursuing careers in powersports, including students at Manchester Community College.

The fifth annual Scott Mullin Memorial Ride took place on July 26, raising a record $21,000 and bringing the total raised to date to $123,000. Hundreds of riders gathered at Souhegan Valley Motorsports, the Mullin family dealership, before riding to New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
