love of learning – and graduating young adults of conscience, character, and compassion. We are playful, we are serious, we are kind, and above all, we love children. Throughout the year, Brookwood’s Kindergarten students learn about food insecurity through books, conversations, visits with local organizations, and hands-on service. The “Helpful Heron Walk for Food” is the culmination of that learning—a chance to raise awareness and take action for their community.
💚 Armed with decorated t-shirts, tunes, and plenty of determination, our kindergarteners walked lap after lap around campus, joined by teachers, fifth-grade buddies, and a cheering community. Every step was a reminder that even our youngest students can make a difference. Special thanks to Ms. Hawes for the hose sprays to cool everyone down!

A celebration of creativity, courage, and community. ☕🎨✨ At this year’s Upper School Coffee House, students took the stage one last time to share their talents with classmates, teachers, and families. Following the performances, eighth graders showcased their Capstone Art and Changemaking Projects—thoughtful, inspiring work that reflects their passions, growth, and impact.

Lower School students traded classrooms for sand and surf, spending the day at some of the North Shore’s most beloved beaches. Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 3 students walked to West Beach in Beverly Farms, while Grades 2 and 4 hopped aboard Brookwood buslets for a day at Singing Beach in Manchester.
With lunches packed and buckets in hand, students explored the shoreline, built sand creations, and enjoyed time with friends and teachers. Meanwhile, our Early Childhood students celebrated with an on-campus Water Fun Day featuring sprinklers, bubbles, mud kitchen adventures, smoothies and popsicles. 🌊💚

🇫🇷 Félicitations to our French students!
This spring, Brookwood students participated in the Grand Concours, the National French Contest, alongside more than 46,000 students from across the country.
Our Grade 7 French students achieved outstanding results, with three students earning Gold Medals (placing in the top 5% nationally) and three students earning Bronze Medals.
Grade 5 students also took on the challenge for the first time. While the contest is typically geared toward students with more French instruction, the class embraced the opportunity with enthusiasm, viewing it as both a learning experience and a chance to challenge themselves. Their hard work paid off, with a student earning a Silver Medal.
At School Meeting, medalists were recognized by Head of Upper School Mr. Tebbens, Acting Head of School Mrs. Murphy, and French teacher Ms. Gedney.
We are proud of these students for their curiosity, perseverance, and willingness to stretch themselves beyond the classroom. Bravo! 🇫🇷 💚

It’s been a busy couple of weeks in Brookwood’s Forest School 🌲📚💚
During Lower School Library Campout, students traded classroom walls for hammocks and tree cover, gathering new and favorite books, trail mix, and quiet moments with read alouds and classmates in the forest.
In Wellness classes, students created “Habitats with HEART” for the animals that call Brookwood’s woods home, imagining what different creatures might need for comfort, safety, and care. The project encouraged students to think about the forest as a shared community, one that deserves curiosity, responsibility, and kindness.
From stories under the trees to thoughtful acts of stewardship, Forest School continues to offer meaningful ways for students to connect with the world around them.

⚖️This week, our Grade 8 students took part in Brookwood’s annual Mock Trial tradition, with Mr. Abramson presiding as judge and eighth grade parents serving as the jury. Students stepped fully into their roles as attorneys, witnesses, investigators, and defendants in this year’s fictional California case involving the death of a teenage girl.
After compelling arguments, intense cross-examinations, and careful deliberation, the Defense won both trials. More importantly, students demonstrated critical thinking, collaboration, public speaking, and the ability to see the complexity behind every case. 👏

Lower School Field Day brought the heat — literally ☀️💦
One of Brookwood’s favorite traditions returned with sunshine and nonstop energy. This year featured eighth graders leading stations for our youngest students, adding an extra layer of fun (and leadership) to the day.
From face painting and hopscotch to hill bowling, guessing jars, pool noodle javelin, golf ball run relay, tennis ball bocce, jump rope, hula hoops, and a water balloon toss that everyone needed by the afternoon… students had an absolute blast.
