🔬Nothing brightens our summer more than seeing our campus filled with smiles, teamwork and discovery!

This week at Manchester Tech Camp, Mrs. Sheehan and Mrs. Ku needed some fake blood for their forensic science project. Our short-term intern and camp counselor, Matt, had been hard at work 3D modeling, so we paired him up with JayCee Chitturi in the Lab to tackle the challenge together.

Not only did they create some impressive crime scene materials, but they also learned a valuable lesson along the way: luminol is extremely hydrophobic! 🚫💧 Science doesn't always go exactly as planned, but that's part of the process. Next time, we'll adjust our approach and see what happens.

These kinds of real-world problem-solving experiences are exactly what Manchester Tech Camp is all about. Each summer, we welcome middle and high school STEM educators to campus for specialized training in regenerative medicine, biotechnology, forensics, and other emerging fields. Through collaboration, experimentation, and creativity, teachers develop engaging projects they can bring back to their classrooms and use to inspire the next generation of scientists, researchers, and innovators.

We're grateful to support educators who bring curiosity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn right alongside their students. It's amazing to watch new connections form, ideas come to life, and teamwork turn challenges into opportunities for discovery.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Dawn Albertson on her appointment as Interim Dean of the University of New Hampshire at Manchester.

Dr. Albertson has served as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, providing leadership across curriculum, academic policy, faculty affairs, and strategic planning. Prior to joining UNH, she held academic leadership roles in both the United States and the United Kingdom, including at King's College London and the University of Bath, where she led initiatives in curriculum innovation, teaching and learning, and institutional transformation.

She holds a PhD in Cellular and Clinical Neurobiology from the Wayne State University School of Medicine and is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE and a U.K. Chartered Psychologist. An active scholar, she recently edited Research Methods in Mental Health (Cambridge University Press) and has been invited to speak internationally on curriculum transformation and teaching and learning innovation.

As Interim Dean, Dr. Albertson looks forward to working with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners to build on UNH Manchester's strengths, expand opportunity for students, strengthen partnerships across the region, and advance the campus's mission of providing an exceptional, workforce-aligned education.

📣 We were thrilled to welcome 29 students from Breakthrough Manchester to campus today for a hands-on STEM experience!

Students toured campus, stepped into our labs for pipetting and cheek swab activities, and explored the exciting possibilities of science and technology with a visit to the STEM Mobile Biofabrication Integrated Lab Experience.
