Manchester Public School Family and Community Engagement Plan
The Manchester plan starts with what we are currently doing and seeks to build on that solid foundation to establish a comprehensive system for partnering with families and the community around our shared desire of successful futures for all of our children. The plan, with support from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, would he

lp us to realize, programs and systems dedicated to our mission. Within our plan, the first order of business would be to open an Office of Family & Community Engagement run by an executive level director, whose primary role would be to strengthen and coordinate programs, supports and services with a common vision of student success through family and community partnership. Sustainable infrastructure will the systemic planning and coordination of these changes. Fidelity and implementation of this plan will be the responsibility of the Director as a part of a system of existing accountability and oversight structures. This office will answer to the Superintendent, District Improvement Team and the Board of Education as they establish clear goals and outcome measures to gauge its effectiveness. Effective partnerships would need to be developed with the Office of Neighborhoods and Families, Family Development Center at Eastern Connecticut Health Network (ECHN), and the Youth Services Bureau to coordinate systems, programs and services. We will further look to strengthen existing partnerships with regional institutions of higher education whose missions and areas of research align with our own. Three main goals would guide the work of this office: Building Capacity, Strengthening Relationships, and Providing Opportunities.

Welcome to "The Partnership Patch" — a special corner of our community where pumpkins grow with purpose, and every vine tells a story of connection.

In this patch, each pumpkin represents our unique families — different in shape, color, and size, but all rooted in the same fertile ground of love, learning, and support. Standing tall at the center is our scarecrow, not to frighten, but to protect and honor the partnerships that help our children grow.

Many Central American countries are celebrating their independence days during this stretch, starting today with Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Coming up are:
September 16 – Mexico
September 18 – Chile
September 21 -- Belize

The town is sponsoring a celebration on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Mahoney Center …
