The kitchen stepped into the cafeteria at School District! 🍜🥕🔥

As part of a special Lunch With Leadership event, students enjoyed a fresh, made-to-order stir fry experience prepared right before their eyes. Featuring a variety of colorful vegetables, including spinach, mushrooms, bean sprouts, carrots, snap peas, peppers, and onions, along with tender chicken, students were able to customize their meal with their favorite ingredients.

Adding to the excitement, Principal Angela Friborg stepped behind the station to help serve students, creating a fun opportunity to connect over great food. Events like these showcase how fresh ingredients, interactive dining experiences, and school leadership can come together to make lunchtime memorable!

8 oz udon noodles (fresh or frozen)
12–16 medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 cup shredded carrots
1 cup cucumber, julienned
1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
2 green onions, chopped
1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
Fresh cilantro or mint (optional, for garnish)
½ cup cashews, chopped (optional)

For the Dressing:
3 tbsp soy sauce (low sodium)
1 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tsp honey or maple syrup
1 tsp grated fresh ginger
1 small garlic clove, minced
½ tsp chili flakes or a few dashes of sriracha (optional for heat)

2. Toss shrimp in a little sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
3. Sauté or grill over medium-high heat for 2–3 minutes per side, until pink and opaque. Let cool slightly.
4. Whisk together all dressing ingredients in a small bowl or shake in a jar.
5. In a large bowl, toss noodles with carrots, cucumber, bell pepper, and green onions.
6. Add shrimp and pour over the dressing. Toss gently to combine, top with chopped cashews and serve.

Big things are happening at Regional School District 🥤🎉

The Fresh Picks Cafe team and Family-Student Support Liaison Jacqueline McGettigan were recognized for their incredible work expanding student food access through innovative breakfast initiatives, including a breakfast tasting event and a flexible Breakfast After the Bell model that nearly doubled breakfast participation at the high school, and the highest percent increase in all of New Hampshire.

Their impact helped earn Winnisquam the title of New Hampshire's 2026 School Breakfast Champion, while Jacqueline received the School Breakfast Hero Award. The celebration was topped off with complimentary breakfast smoothie samples for students and staff! 💙🍓

Congratulations to Jacqueline and the FPC team at Winnisquam!
