It recently came to our attention that some of our recent emails may not have been delivered to all schools due to a technical issue. We believe that issue has now been resolved; however, given the circumstances, we're extending the deadline to register for Finals until Thursday.

Below is a brief summary of key details:

Registration Deadline:

Thursday, March 12, by NOON

All competitors, non-competitors, advisers, parents, chaperones, etc. must register for Finals.

If you have any questions regarding the contests, please contact Paul Fantaski (PSPA Contest Chair) at [email protected]. For any Penn State-related questions, please contact Emily Clevenger at [email protected].

Thank you for all you do to support student journalism. We look forward to seeing you and your students next week.

We are proud to announce that the 2026 Pennsylvania Student Journalist of the Year is Kaitlyn Ho of Strath Haven High School.

Student Journalist of the Year candidates submit comprehensive portfolios which are judged on categories of the Journalism Education Association's curriculum, including News and Reporting, Law and Ethics, Leadership, Photojournalism, Broadcast Journalism, Commitment to Diversity, Web and Social Media, Audience Engagement and Design. A panel of judges evaluates the portfolios and provides specific feedback to the student entrants.

Ho now advances to consideration for the National Student Journalist of the Year award.
