Happy World Teachers’ Day! 💛

Today we’re celebrating the incredible teachers who make BDS such a special place to learn and grow.

Our teachers do so much more than teach steps. They encourage confidence, creativity, discipline, teamwork, and a love of dance that our students carry with them far beyond the studio.

As Childhood Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to our BDS family for all of the love, support, and encouragement you continue to show. 💛

Today, we’re honored to share a recent news story featuring one of our Competition Team dancers, Lena, and her very special dog, Roger. 🐾 You may even recognize Roger from around the studio!

We’re so grateful to be surrounded by a community that shows up for one another, celebrates each other, and offers support when it matters most.

During her treatment at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, 8-year-old Lena Lafata had something to look forward to — visits with her dogs, Ruby and Roger, at the Purina Family Pet Center.

💛 We’re halfway through Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and we want to take a moment to spotlight one of our own dancers, Lena.
Lena was diagnosed with leukemia in February of this year and began her final round of front-line treatment earlier this month. While her treatment will continue for the next two years, we are incredibly proud of the courage, determination, and work ethic she has shown throughout this journey.

Even while continuing chemotherapy, Lena was able to return to the stage in May and compete at Nationals in June — something that speaks volumes about her strength and love of dance. 💛

If you would like to support pediatric cancer research, you can also donate to the Children’s Oncology Group, a pediatric research network responsible for clinical trials that are helping save the lives of Lena and so many other children.
