📢 MERHS Highlight: Yale International Tournament

Our Speech and Debate Team opened the season at the 34th Annual Yale Invitational in New Haven, three days of competition and our first overnight travel tournament.

203 schools entered the tournament, and the JV Public Forum division alone drew 78 teams, with competitors from Ecuador, Minnesota, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania and beyond. Our debaters went straight into one of the toughest early season fields in the league and held their own.

🎤 Extemp (30 minutes, one 7-min speech, no notes): Simone Argento '27
🗣️ Public Forum (two on two, real-world issues): Rosie Renehan '28 and Claire Yukins '29, Stella Langille '29 and Abigail Borgerson '29, Lily Berkowitz '29 and Grace Burgess '29
Lily and Grace broke to elimination rounds as the 17th seed.

Huge thanks to everyone who supported our June mock debate fundraiser. You made this trip happen.

EES - 🦋 Exciting week! Our butterfly emerged over last weekend, and we were able to release it on Monday! Our second butterfly just emerged today, and we will release it tomorrow afternoon once it's wings have had time to dry! Check out MERSD In the News for the October 8th Newsletter!
