We are thrilled to welcome Nancy Nielsen to Mancelona Public Schools 🧡🖤

Nancy will be teaching Introduction to Spanish, French & Italian and Character & Leadership at Mancelona Middle School, as well as Spanish 1 at Mancelona High School.

Nancy brings a wealth of teaching experience to Mancelona. She grew up in Milford and began her career at Lakeland High School. She also spent 12 years teaching in Manistee County at Manistee Area Schools and Manistee Catholic Central. Throughout her career, she has taught a wide variety of subjects, including law, accounting, business math, physical education, and Spanish K–12. She has also coached track, volleyball, and cross country.

Her goal this year is to help students discover that learning a second language can be a lot of fun and can enrich your life in so many ways!

When she’s not teaching, Nancy loves to travel—she has visited an incredible 30 countries! Her other favorite hobby? Thrift shopping!

Nancy chose Mancelona because the people she met during the interview process were amazing and shared her vision of a school district that puts its heart and soul into teaching, helping students, and caring about all aspects of shaping them into incredible people.

Nancy, we’re so happy you chose Mancelona! Welcome to the Ironmen family!

Please join us in welcoming Lauralea Taylor to Mancelona Public Schools as our new Early Childhood Special Education Teacher Consultant!

Lauralea brings a wealth of experience in early childhood education. Her background includes serving as a Pre-K teacher and director, a Great Start to Quality consultant, and the Program Service Coordinator for the Early Head Start home-based program with NMCAA, serving Charlevoix, Emmet, and Antrim counties.

Originally from West Branch and now living in Charlevoix, Lauralea is excited to join the Ironmen team. She looks forward to watching students and teachers grow individually while helping build a strong special education program where young students and their families feel supported both in the classroom and at home.

Outside of school, Lauralea enjoys gardening, snowshoeing, hiking and chasing waterfalls. She’s also a sports fanatic—especially softball—and loves to travel. This summer, she enjoyed an unforgettable week in Iceland with her mom!

We are excited to have Lauralea joining our team and can’t wait to see the positive impact she will have on our youngest Ironmen and their families.

Welcome to Mancelona, Lauralea! 🧡🖤

Please join us in welcoming Kim Biehl back to Mancelona Public Schools as our new Behavior Interventionist at Mancelona Middle School! 🧡🖤

Kim brings a wealth of experience to this role, having spent 15 years teaching at Mancelona Elementary followed by 9 years with Kalkaska Schools. After a two-year retirement filled with traveling, baking sourdough bread, cheering on the Detroit Lions, and enjoying time with family, Kim is excited to return to the school community she knows and loves.

Kim chose to return to Mancelona Schools because of her passion for working with students in her own community. Her goal this year is to help make school a more engaging, positive, and enjoyable experience for every student.

Welcome back, Kim! We’re so excited to have you on the team!
