Meet the Staff: Latifa. I’m an educator, curriculum developer, and homeschooling mother. I’ve been teaching for thirty years, and my experience spans teaching, training, and educational leadership. I hold a B.A. in Mathematics and an M.A. in Education. What drives me is simple. I want to cultivate confident educators, connected families, and lifelong learners rooted in God-consciousness.

My path into teaching started early. In eighth grade, I volunteered to tutor younger students in math. I found myself drawn to those small, electric moments when a concept finally clicked for a child. The love for that “aha spark” stayed with me for years. In college, after deciding electrical engineering wasn’t for me, I turned toward education instead. I never looked back.

What I love about ICS you ask? The children and the small tight-knit community. I appreciate how closely home and school work together to keep the ICS running well. We stand apart for one reason. Everyone here is striving toward the same goal: providing a high-quality education for the sake of Allah.

Although, I’m not a classroom teacher myself, my hope for ICS students reaches beyond any single subject. I want every student who leaves ICS to think critically and make good choices; guided always by the wisdom of Allah, Prophet Muhammad, and his purified family.

MEET THE PRINCIPAL! My name is Ensiyyah Nahidian, and I go by Ensi for short. I am so excited to welcome you to Islamic Community School!

I was born and raised in Manassas, Virginia, alongside my eight siblings, and I attended an Islamic school from nursery through high school. I cherish those years of growing up in a supportive community that shared my values, and I am honored to help create that same environment for our students at ICS, Insha’Allah.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, and this is my sixth year serving as Principal. My love of teaching began as a teenager when I started teaching Sunday school. Since then, I have gained 15 years of teaching experience in Islamic elementary schools, the public school system in Special Education, and through homeschooling my own children for six years.

I have known since fourth grade that I wanted to be a teacher. I admired my own teachers and the impact they had on my life, as well as the opportunities they created for their students. That early love for teaching has stayed with me and continues to inspire me today as a principal.

ICS holds a very special place in my heart. In many ways, it feels like my baby outside of my own three children. What I love most is the genuine care and love we have for our students. We truly see each child, support them, and celebrate their growth in a nurturing environment. It gives me so much meaning to be part of their journey. More than anything, I pray our students leave each day feeling confident, loved, and supported by a village that helps them become their best selves while remaining conscious and intentional about seeking what is pleasing to Allah.

Outside of school, I love making meals and hosting family and friends, spending time at the beach, bike riding, going for walks, and working in the yard. Community is very important to me, and I am passionate about supporting our youth, their well-being, and their education.

We’re so excited to begin the 2026–2027 school year at Islamic Community School!

Before we officially begin, we invite all of our families to join us for our Back-to-School Meet & Greet on Tuesday, September 1st from 2:00–5:00 PM!

This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to meet their teachers, see their classrooms, and become familiar with their new surroundings before their first day of school the very next morning. We want our students to walk through the doors on September 2nd feeling comfortable, confident, and ready to learn, Insha’Allah.

As we begin another year together, we pray that Allah blesses our school community, our teachers, students, and parents, and makes this a year filled with growth, curiosity, confidence, meaningful friendships, and a love of learning. May He guide us, strengthen us, and fill our school with knowledge, kindness, and barakah. 🤲🏼

And just like that, our “Builders of Good in This World” summer camp has come to a close. 💛

Over the past four weeks, our campers learned that goodness isn’t just something we talk about, it’s something we recognize, build within ourselves, practice every day, and share with the world.

✨ We learned to know what is good through Allah’s guidance.
✨ We worked to be someone good by strengthening our character.
✨ We discovered how to do good in our homes, classrooms, and community.
✨ And we were inspired to spread good wherever Allah takes us.

Between the laughter, friendships, crafts, games, Quran, stories, and countless moments of learning, we pray these seeds of goodness continue to grow in the hearts of our children long after summer ends.

To every camper and every family who entrusted us with your children this summer, thank you for being part of this journey. May Allah accept every smile, every act of kindness, and every lesson learned, and make our children among those who are always builders of good, Insha’Allah.

As summer comes to an end, we’re excited to welcome both familiar and new faces this fall! Enrollment is now open for Grades 1–5.

We can’t wait to continue building hearts, minds, and character together.

At ICS, interactive activities are a core part of our curriculum. Cooperative games like this parachute exercise do more than just burn off energy—they teach our students essential life skills:
* Teamwork: Learning to synchronize movements for a shared goal.
* Communication: Listening, adapting, and responding as a collective unit.
* Community: Building trust and shared joy with every classmate.
