At Islamic Community School, we want our students to dream BIG, but we also want them to understand that their gifts and talents come with a purpose.

Career Day is an opportunity for our students to explore, learn, imagine, and discover the many paths they may take in the future. But more importantly, we want our children to ask, “How can I use what Allah has given me to help others?” Allah has given each of us unique abilities, interests, strengths, and talents. Whether we become doctors, teachers, scientists, builders, artists, firefighters, entrepreneurs, or something entirely different, our careers can be a way to serve humanity, strengthen our communities, and do good in this world.

Our goal isn’t simply to prepare children for a job. It is to help them discover who they are, what they are capable of, and how they can use their God-given gifts in service to others. Because when children learn to connect their talents with purpose, they begin to see their future not just as a career, but as an opportunity to make a difference.

Parenting is one of the greatest responsibilities Allah has entrusted to us. As our children grow and the world around them changes, we need to keep learning, reflecting, and growing as parents, too.

Our parent workshops are an opportunity to:
-Learn practical tools through an Islamic lens
-Learn from one another and strengthen our community
-Discuss the real challenges of raising children today
-Build stronger connections with our children
-Continue educating ourselves so we can better support our children

It takes a village. You don’t have to navigate parenthood alone. We strongly encourage both parents to attend, or at least one parent from each family.

Childcare provided!
Children will have pizza + fun activities while parents participate. Refreshments and tea will be provided for parents.

Alhamdulillah, the 2026–27 school year has begun! Come along and take a peek inside our classrooms, which were all ready and waiting for our students on Day 1, September 2nd!

Our students are settling in, getting comfortable, and building trust with their teachers, classmates, and their new environment. Our routines are taking shape, and it has been wonderful watching our students learn, adjust, and find their place.

The sounds of children learning, reading, reciting, giggling, and playing together bring the ICS team so much joy. We are incredibly grateful to the families who have joined us this year. Thank you for trusting us with your precious children. They are truly an amanah, and we are honored to care for and nurture them each day.

May Allah bless our school, students, families, and staff with His highest blessings of love, peace, knowledge, and growth. May He guide our students, help them blossom into their fullest potential, and make them among those who are confident in who they are, grounded in their faith, and always striving to please Him.

Meet the Teacher! I’m Sr. Tahereh, an educator with over 15 years of experience in public, private, and homeschool settings. I have a Bachelor’s in History with a minor in Islamic Studies and a Master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies, focusing on Secondary Education and the Abrahamic faiths. I love helping students become curious, confident, and thoughtful learners through history, literature, art, hands-on activities, and creativity.

What I love most about teaching at ICS is being part of a community that feels like family, where learning, character, and Islamic values come together. The atmosphere is one of kindness and love from the teachers coupled with the ability to foster a love of learning and akhlaq among students and I feel like that combination is hard to find in learning institutions! I hope my students leave with a love of learning, curiosity about the world, and confidence in their ability to think deeply.

Outside the classroom, I’m a mom to three energetic boys, an avid reader, and a lover of fresh flowers, chocolate, and cozy time with family and friends.

Meet the Teacher: My name is Zahra Rambo! I will be teaching Islamic Studies this year! I am currently studying for nursing school at Laurel Ridge community college. I work part time in the public school system working with special needs children. Working with special needs children in public schools has sparked my love for teaching and inshaallah the children at ICS walk away from my class with a love for their religion and for Allah (SWT). In my spare time, I love to read non fiction and watch horror movies. I also speak Spanish and practice jiu jitsu for fun.

Meet The Teachers! My name is Sr. Sayeda Hasni and I teach Qur’an for Pre-K to 3rd grade. ⁠I am currently pursuing my bachelors degree in public health. ⁠I started teaching an afterschool STEM program at another Islamic school for 1.5 years. After that, I had a year-long fellowship teaching healthy habits to students in elementary/middle school. Most recently I worked as a summer camp counselor here at ICS!

⁠Working with the students during my fellowship made me consider the role of teaching and working at the summer camp solidified my decision. The thing I love the most about teaching at ICS is how the school culture is rooted in Islamic teachings. ICS is special because of how welcoming the environment is!

⁠I hope that my students are able to develop love of the Quran in their hearts and want to learn more from it in their own lives.

⁠I speak Urdu and in my free time I enjoy baking, reading, writing, and hiking.

Meet the Teachers: I’m Sr. Setareh, and I’m excited to be working with our kindergarten, 1st grade, and 3rd grade students during their math periods this year.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy and previously worked as the head of a physical therapy clinic for three years before moving to the United States in 2016.

This will be my fourth year teaching and my third year at ICS. Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to teach both elementary students and middle and high school students. These are very different age groups, both academically and developmentally, and working with each has been a wonderful and rewarding experience. I have truly enjoyed learning from and growing alongside my students.

I believe that raising the next generation of strong, knowledgeable, and ethical Muslims is one of our most important responsibilities. Children need a safe, nurturing, and thoughtfully designed environment where they can grow academically, socially, and Islamically. As both an educator and a parent whose son is also part of the ICS community, I truly believe ICS provides that environment. My hope is that, together, we can help our students grow and thrive both academically and in their Islamic character and values.

I’m also excited that my four-year-old son will be joining the Pre-K program at ICS this year!

Outside of school, I love spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy cooking, hiking, watching movies, and, more recently, drawing. Spending time with the people I love is what helps me recharge and brings me the most joy.

I’m looking forward to a wonderful year of learning, growing, and making great memories with our students!

Meet The Teachers: My name is Nona Hussain but I go by Sr. Asma. I will be teaching 2nd and 3rd grade this year InshaAllah.

I have been a teacher in some capacity for almost 30 years having homeschooled my own children, participating in home study groups, and teaching at ICS over the years.
From a young age, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I have always had a love of education and nurturing young minds.

My favorite part of teaching is the connections I make, not only with my students, but my fellow teachers and the families that entrust us with their children. ICS has been a place near to my heart for a long time as my own children attended when they were young. So, coming back to teach at ICS, was like coming home.

I hope my students walk away from my class everyday, not only as a better Muslim, but a better human. I want my students to thrive as good citizens that happen to be Muslim.

I speak 3 languages and understand 6. My hobbies include being crafty in most ways like crocheting and sewing.

Meet the Teachers: My name is Sr. Farwa Rizvi and I am so excited to be teaching kindergarten and first grade at ICS this year! I graduated from George Mason University with a bachelors in Elementary Education. I’ve been teaching for about 7 years, with a few breaks along the way to raise my own children. I’ve had the privilege of being part of the ICS community for 3 years, on and off, and I’m so happy to be back. Being both a teacher and a parent has given me an even greater appreciation for the trust families place in their children’s teachers.

I have always loved working with children and watching them grow in confidence and independence. What inspired me to become a teacher was the opportunity to make a positive impact during such an important stage of a child’s life. What I love most about ICS is the sense of community. It’s a place where children are not only encouraged to grow academically, but also to develop strong character and a connection to their faith.
