VNB is happy to welcome Rachel Ginsburg to the company for 2026-27!
Rachel Sakurako Ginsburg is an American ballet dancer whose training spans both the United States and Japan. She began her formal ballet education under the guidance of Nakamura Mika, studying from 2017 to 2023, and furthered her training at the Académie de Ballet de Kyoto from 2020 to 2023.
In 2023, Rachel joined The Washington School of Ballet in Washington, D.C., where she trained in the prestigious Trainee Program through 2025 under the artistic leadership of Edward Liang and Associate Artistic Director Zoica Tovar. During her time there, she refined her classical technique while expanding her experience in contemporary dance, partnering, repertoire, and performance.
Rachel has performed in multiple productions of The Nutcracker with The Washington Ballet, appearing in roles including Clara’s Friend, Snow, Flower, Butterfly, and Ribbon Girl. She has also performed internationally with Homura Tomoi Ballet Company in Osaka, Japan, dancing the Neapolitan role in Swan Lake. In addition, she has participated in numerous studio performances, workshops, classical repertoire presentations, contemporary works, and student choreography showcases.
Her training has been shaped by renowned teachers and coaches including Trinidad Vives, Edward Liang, Zoica Tovar, Aron Scott, and Nakamura Mika. Rachel’s strengths include advanced classical ballet technique, pointe work, pas de deux, variations and repertoire, contemporary dance, and dancer conditioning.
Rachel is excited to be joining Virginia National Ballet as an Apprentice in the 2026-27 Season!
