MGTA is happy to announce that our popular Intro to Python class will be offered this fall at the Fairfax George Mason Campus.

Description:
This popular course is an excellent introduction to programming for students. Python is an great first programming language because students can quickly learn how to think like a programmer. Python is easily readable – students won’t need to memorize the complex syntax that other programming languages require. Instead, students will be able to focus on learning programming concepts as well as put them into practical use.

On Sunday, July 17, 2022 Vera Anna Lichtenberg passed away at the age of 57.

Vera Lichtenberg was the founding director of the Mason Game and Technology Academy. Over the years she touched the hearts and minds of countless students through her passionate work and dedication.

On behalf of MGTA and everyone she has enriched, we just want to say,

Spring 2022 Updates:
Registration for Spring classes are now closed

Summer 2022 Updates:
Our MGTA prep classes are on hold for this summer, and will resume summer 2023.
We will miss our local families and younger students, but we but we are very excited to resume next summer!

We will continue to offer classes in partnership with Envision, both virtual and on-site options are available.
For our on-site classes, we will once again offer Mason college credit.

MGTA summer class update, Prince William classes are now open for registration MGTA is excited to announce that summer classes are open for registration on George Mason's Sci-Tech campus in Manassas. The classes will run Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5:00 PM.

MGTA will be doing a presentation at Chantilly's STEM Night. More information below.

Chantilly STEM Night is going virtual this year! This event has numerous STEM organizations attending including NASA Langley, the New York Academy of Science, Mason Game and Tech Academy (MGTA), and Chem-E-Car from VT. Students will get to learn about STEM careers, watch live demos, and participate in STEM challenges. There are no costs for attending the event, and all students from K-5th grade are welcome!

MGTA Summer Updates: Classes Are Filling Quickly! MGTA is grateful to the Micron Foundation for providing us with scholarship funding for summer 2021. Any student ages 9 – 18 who demonstrates financial need, is in academic good standing, and has an interest in technology and game design is eligible to apply for scholarship funding.

MGTA's Intro to 3D Animation with Blender spring class has concluded. Here is a small showcase of some of the animations students created for the class.
