While we may be a year-round school, even our students deserve a little summer break fun! ☀️🦋

As our students head into their two-week summer break at the end of this week, we’re excited to send them home with Summer Enhancement Binders filled with fun learning activities, along with sensory goodies to keep them learning, exploring, and engaged while they’re away.

Because at Matthew’s Center, learning doesn’t stop when school takes a break. We’re helping our students stay connected, have fun, and keep those skills growing all summer long!

We are underway and excited for an incredible new school year at Matthew’s Center! Two of our focus areas for the year ahead are literacy and technology, with a continued commitment to increasing accessibility and access for every student we serve.

We are incredibly thankful to the Virginia Student Training and Refurbishment Program Virginia STAR for the generous donation of 77 laptops for our students and staff. These devices will help us expand literacy opportunities, increase engagement, strengthen digital skills, individualize instruction, and explore new ways to support our students and families. We can’t wait to get them up and running and see the possibilities they create.

At Matthew’s Center, we’re continuing to remove barriers, increase access, and create meaningful opportunities for every learner.

At Matthew’s Center, our students are at the heart of every decision we make, and we believe their voices deserve to be heard.

Today, Classroom 6 took another exciting step toward independence by personally inviting their Matthew’s Center team members to their upcoming IEP meetings and working on presentations they will share themselves. Watching our students build confidence, practice self-advocacy, and take an active role in planning for their futures is truly inspiring!

These moments remind us that independence isn’t built overnight, it’s developed one meaningful opportunity at a time. We couldn’t be prouder of our incredible students as they continue to grow into confident self-advocates and everyday heroes.

💙 Way to go, Mrs. Georgina, team, and students! Your hard work, courage, and determination make us proud every day.

🍋☀️ A cup of lemonade a day keeps the heat away! ☀️🍋

Our Classroom 6 students squeezed, stirred, poured, and smiled their way through making homemade lemonade! 💛 From practicing life skills and teamwork to enjoying a refreshing summer treat, this activity was the perfect recipe for learning and fun.

Nothing says summertime like fresh lemonade, big smiles, and making sweet memories together! 🍋🥤😎
