Congratulations to Berry Buer, Introduction to Fashion Careers student at Colgan HS for winning the 1st place prize in the Wearable art competition in the recent Off the Wall Art competition, hosted by the Art Factory in Manassas. Berry's garment had to be made from 50% recyclable material. Berry made he jacket from trash bags, plastic bags, bubble wrap, packing tape, hot glue, and computer keys! Forest Park High School educators are published authors
Congratulations to Dr. Joe Pisani and Dr. Jamey Long, CTE teachers at Forest Park High School, who have just completed a new book focused on valuing the voice of all stakeholders within an organization, with a focus on activating these same stakeholders into a shared leadership process. The book is published through Anthem Publishers (New York and London) and will be available on Amazon and other online order web pages.

PWCS is looking to hire 15 interns to work over the summer with our Technical Support Specialist/helpdesk staff.
IT Summer Internship position in PWCS:
Grade Levels: Rising 11-12
Duration: 5 weeks
June 20, June 27,
July 4 week – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
July 11, July 18
15 hours per week
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
(if a break is taken during these hours, extend the day to 5 hours per day)
Pay: This internship is unpaid. $1000 gift card for successful completion of Internship hours and requirements.
Related Classroom Instruction: The internship is related to any CTE or Information Technology courses.
Student Eligibility:
Students must have their own transportation that supports:
-Arriving to work on time.
-The ability to get from one PWCS school to another school per assignment (that can change during the day).
-The student must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a CTE program.
-Preference is given to students that have passed the Workplace Readiness Exam.
-Recommendation from a teacher.
-Completion of application and interview process with host employer
-Completion of student registration and parent/guardian permission
-Ability to fulfill the time demands of the internship
On-the-Job Requirements:
-Readiness and willingness to learn
-Agreement to work on and with computers as requested
-Willingness to ask questions and confirm directions as needed
-Attention for all work hours will be on the work task. Cell phones will be used for work (and emergency) purposes only.
-Ability to lift a box of PWCS student laptops that contains 12 laptops.
