🎹🌊🌏 More than a music studio—Studio Colombe is a sanctuary for creative renewal.

Through music, mentorship, and intentional artistry, we guide musicians and artists back to their voice.

“Colombe” is French for “dove” — a symbol of peace, return, and expression.

Not Strictly Classical—and nothing artificial about Danny’s performance last night.

How often do we get to hear music made by a human being, in real time?

Thank you for curating and sharing your program with us.

Repertoire outside the canon—yet entirely deserving of it.

Danny Holt: Not Strictly Classical

Friday, March 28, 5:00 pm

Saturday, March 28, 4:00pm

Not Strictly Classical highlights contemporary classical music influenced by jazz, rock, and pop music, including works by Mike Garson (pianist for Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, etc.), jazz/pop phenom Jon Batiste, French jazz/hip-hop pianist Sofiane Pamart, Ludovico Einaudi, Max Richter and many others. Also featuring selections from beloved film scores like “Amelie,” “The Piano,” and “Interstellar.”

Called “phenomenal” by the late music critic Alan Rich, and “exceptional” by the Los Angeles Times, pianist Danny Holt performs around the globe in concert halls (Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Hollywood Bowl), clubs (Joe’s Pub, The Blue Whale, Copenhagen Jazzhouse) art galleries (MASS MoCA, Hammer Museum), churches, living rooms, and wherever else he can find a piano and someone to listen. His recorded catalog includes the recent solo album “Piano Music of Mike Garson” and other solo, chamber, and orchestral releases on the Innova Recordings label, pfMENTUM, New World Records, Deutsche Grammophon, Acis Productions, and L’st records.

🌴🎶Musicians chase an impossible horizon of perfection.

👏Even if you didn’t do as well as you wanted to, practice for as long as you thought you needed to, make the perfect post or essay, if you showed up today and did the work : GOOD JOB!

🌟We need to talk to ourselves the same way we would talk to a little kid. Would you tell a little kid “oh, that wasn’t very good, you missed a note here, this passage still needs work “ etc etc

Certainly not if you want them to keep practicing.

đź’ŞThe practice is showing up. The hardest part is getting started. And the more we appreciate ourselves the better our results will be.

Learning an instrument isn’t something you want to DIY with YouTube videos.

I feel incredibly grateful to work with all of my students—but especially my adult students. There’s something powerful about creating a space where people aren’t afraid to mess up… because that’s how real progress happens.

I love helping people connect the dots—so they can express themselves, play with confidence, and truly enjoy the gift of music. AI can tell you if you’re playing the wrong note, but working with a real teacher can save you countless hours of frustration and bring out your true artistry.

For a long time, I didn’t focus on marketing myself. Our family was navigating the adventure of military life, and I was simply happy to help a neighbor or a friend bring the music inside them to life.

The world needs more music now.

So if you’d like to save yourself a lot of time banging your head against the music rack (we’ve all been there), I’ve got you.

I’m opening a few spaces for weekly piano lessons (in-person or online) this spring.

✨ Limited daytime availability
✨ Designed for adult pianists ready to begin—or begin again

Message me if you’d like to talk about starting—or restarting—your piano journey.
