My goal is to T.E.A.C.H - tutor, educate, advocate, consult, & help you and your family. As an educator, I have a bachelor's degree in Education and a master’s degree in Education/Special Education. I have 20 years of hands-on teaching experience. I had the opportunity to teach for the New York City Department of Education teaching second and fourth graders in various settings. I have taught gene
ral education, special education, and gifted and talented populations. My classrooms consisted of various learners and students with IEP’s. For the last 5 years of my teaching career, I taught in an integrated co-teaching classroom where 40 percent of the students had an IEP and the remainder if the students were general education students. During this time, I learned how important it is to advocate and support special education students. I have provided workshops for teachers and parents to help support different learning styles and assist parents with making learning fun at home. During my career, I became a union representative for my school building and worked side by side with the school administration. After teaching elementary school for 17 years, I became a stay-at-home mom to help support my daughter with special needs. I have experience writing and attending IEP’s, teaching both general and special education students, and advocating for all students. I have sat on both sides of the table and have used that to help me with advocate for my own daughter. As a mom of two young children, I know how hard it is to juggle the ins-and-outs of daily life. I have firsthand experience being both the educator and the parent of a special needs child. I use my knowledge of the educational system and a parent to help others be the best advocate for their children.
